This Old Tip Up

Let's use up some of the Bosses bandwith Winter Time Fun

Please post any if you have any Below is the start of my ice fishing Tip Up or Tilt collection used for ice fishing in NewEngland

The best part of these tipups is how the heck do they work ?

First up is a very rare "Wooden" pop -up , not sure how it works , there is a spring on the inside and a hole on the outside and a small screw , maybe missing a part or two Have yet too see another one made of wood

These are cool and always in my bag when I head out on the ice, the problem with useing antique tip ups is the holes are to big and your equipment may fall in

Home Made , simple stick with a spring and leather

Most of the "stick " tilts were made to lay flat on newspaper or jammed in a pile of snow

Dave, I think you mean connoisseur. Ice fishing the corner sewer means something totally different to us guys born and raised in Worcester. I kid you not though, Flaptail once told me which was the prefered sewer cover to fish from near the hatchery spillway. He had fished them both, maybe with you.

Nice stuff VB. I saw one time at an antique tackle show, a type of ice fishing trap where a minnow was impaled on a barb under a spring loaded multi-pronged mechanism. When the fish bit the minnow the spring mechanism released and impaled the fish. Very creative, although I'm not sure how well it worked. I susupect it probably made catch-and release a little tough though.

Ed

Funny you would say that , Back in the Day on Lake Quisig in Worcester when we went smelt fishing , we would open a manhole cover drop a net and brag to everyone on our master fishing skills
