Tuna googan here

So what's the deal honestly. If I charter a boat is the fish "my" fish when it's landed? I'm only asking because I hear enough stories of guys 1. Not wanting that much fish and 2. Charters telling the sport well you land it but we sell it. 3. I want it all if I'm reeling that #^&#^&#^&#^&er in.

BFT 73” and over are commercial fish. They cannot be retained for recreational food by law. No more 1 trophy fish a year. So yes if your on a charter that is strictly rec fishing for sub 73” fish it is yours. But if the boat has all the documents and is on a comm/charter and the first fish is big then the charter is not going home with tuna. And the charters I work the customer gets 1/6 of the sale of fish.
