Nice pictures, Mr. Marsupial. Feel free to contribute more any time. Quite a landscape you have there.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Wow, what a reply, 22 in a day, I'm impressed. Q &A's

what pound test do you use to haul fish up the cliff with...?
John and I are very sports minded and fish quite light tackle. I use a Graphcast 2, 9ft one piece 10-16lb class rod with ultra lightweight guides and a Van Staal VS 150 Gold with 16lb braid. (that’s when we fish off the low cliffs) I was using a Fin Nor 12 when I caught the Narrowbanded Spanish Mackerel.
Off the High Cliffs, 100 yards up, we use a 10 foot Stick! A very heavy duty 40lb class rod with an Alvey 650C5 deep spool reel with 40lb line. When you hook a fish from the high cliffs its near impossible to reel it in. You detach the reel from the rod and while one person holds the rod over the edge the other person walks off with the reel. After a 100 yard walk the fish appears at the cliff top. Its hard work holding the rod even with a 10lb'er on there. And not for the faint hearted. Mind you the person holding the rod is attached to the car and is wearing a harness.

How much is your petrol these days mate? $1.40 per litre or $6.40 per gallon.

probably skish for Great Whites too...
Yes there are a few Great White Sharks around, but not many. The whole area is called “Shark Bay” and it’s not called that for no reason. There are thousands of Sharks in the area. The big ones here are the Bronze Whalers, we call them “Noah’s”
12-15 foot are common and believe me plenty of fish are lost to these buggers.

I want to party with you guys.
Chris, come to us and you’re most welcome. I am always looking for a reason to get to Steep Point.

Yes do look me up next time your in Perth. We are a friendly mob and always need another reason to get the beer on the table!

Isn't the striper equivalent fish the Barramundi in Australia?
Yes the Barramundi here would be very similar to your Stripper. Bigger maybe, 50lb’ers are caught regularly.
Mr Hunters
What brings you over to the striper side of things?
Fishing, Fishing and More fishing. Always like to read good stories.
Hummy22
I suppose you guys don't believe in "catch and release"
The last fish on my previous post was “released”. Carefully cliff gaffed and a couple of pictures taken then back off into the deep blue of the bay. So, yes, if we can’t eat it and its going to survive then its thrown back. If it’s unlikely to survive then it’s bait.

Just incase you can't read John's T-shirt, heres a close up.

This is Eddie, not the best photo, but a beauty of a 50lb Mulloway

This is a Shark Mackerel, you can see my Fin Nor and Rod behind me.

And my favourite picture, this has apeared in numerous mags and on the Nat Geo website. A Humpback Whale and calf swimming past our feet. Truely Spectacular!

Hope you enjoy.
