Westy 12 is a pain to get your hands on. Had it once 6-7 years ago and it was a waste. My pallatte at the time couldn't appreciate it. Let me know if you score some.

Did not find out until it was done and gone. Coworker just happened to be at Julio's day of and stumbled into a six pack for $65. Heard it was going for $85 elsewhere via lottery. Oh well. Guess I will have to go to the abbey. Have to do the VT trip first.

Move up to the Rochefort 10's. Well worth it in my book, but not something you do every week.

If you have a top quality like that I like to get the series and taste them in order...I think it gives you a better appreciation for the differences in the style.

Orval is a favorite, and Chimay Grande Reserve is the gold standard.

Sounds like it was a one time deal since the abbey was in need of repair and funds to do so. If we are lucky they will need some more $$$$, if you are really lucky you would end up at the abbey to buy some! I would take either but prefer the later. Got the wifey looking at some European river cruises brochures "as we speak". Hey, you got to have a dream, and maybe a conniving plan to go with said dream as well.

Rochefort 8 to 10 would be an excellent tasting lesson/session. If someone would like to arrange for Westvleteren 12's, I will buy as much as is needed Westvleteren 8's and 10's and be right there for the tasting session. Just about any time and just about any place my trusty AWD Volvo stead will take me. My PM account is open and waiting!
