Classic Fixer Uppers

What do you guys think about picking up beat up old wooden CCBC Pikies in the 6-8" range for decent prices and then refinish them and put new hooks etc? Do the old wood Pikies swim as good or better than new production wooden plugs? Pros/cons? Thanks!

Ive found some 6' or bigger CC Pikies for between $8-12 each. Just don't expect them to have any paint left on them! Forget about the Giant Pikies, they have become untouchable in price.
The newer CC are wired though as well.
I wish there was someone or a service that would paint lures on demand. There was one site online that advertised as the best. They stated they would paint any lure for around $10 and they had nice finishes. I wrote them and inquired about doing a few of mine and they never responded to my email. I guess they dont need my business, and I will surely comply.
