thru wire question

i am planing on making a fresh water broomstick popper for a frend what size wire sould i use to thru wire this plug.

i dont have a lead melter what should i use to load the plug lead shot,splitshot?

Depends how big the plug is and how much weight you need. Splitshot, bb's, buckshot, egg sinkers, etc. will all work. Most of my freshie stuff have 1/16 inch wire. Smaller bass stuff I might use something thinner if I have it around or use screw eyes.
