Wedding Music

Starting to think about music for the big day. What do you guys like to get drunk and dance too? We like alot of differnent kinds of of music so offer anything. If you like to stay on the sidelines ask your wife. Thanks in advance.

If your getting a DJ let him play what everybody asks for...easiest way.

And since you not going to be needing your plugs anymore afterwards just send them to me

I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect any serious responses here.

You can not go wrong with Mowtown and Stax as your starting point. I would have it at at least 30 -40%. Everyone knows it and everyone of all ages who dance will feel comfortable dancing to it. Then throw in a little Elvis, Beach Boys, Beatles, some swing type stuff like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Latin music is always good to get people dancing. Most importantly it is your wedding play some kind of music you and your partner like to dance to. If you want specific suggestion send me a pm.

I agree to get a good DJ that has a lot of experience and good references. Also, try to go to a function to see the DJ. We had a live band at our wedding and my wife and I crashed a reception so we could see them. We were glad we did because it was nice to know what to expect (and the hors d'oeuvre were beyond reproach).

Maybe you could get some ideas for your first dance from this. Cheferson should really like it.

A good DJ should only need minimal guidance with song choices. I mean, you're paying them a lot, they should be able to read the crowd and keep things going. I remember telling my DJ to make sure he threw in some classic rock and some 80's hair band stuff once the dancing got going, but that was really it. I know some DJ's like to get a song list from the couple, but in the end, it's the DJ that has done wedding after wedding and knows what works and what doesn't. You and your fiance may love "She's like the Wind" by Patrick Swayze, but that doesn't mean all your guests are going to have a good time dancing to it.

make a list of songs that you don't want as well as what you want and give that to the DJ. That way if someone requests brick house and you hate it, he'll know not to play it.

i'm gonna request the electric slide and the macarena every 15 minutes or so, so if you don't want to hear it, put it on the list

I did that as well;
We gave him a do not play list, as well as out 'set' dances early on, then told him to use his experience to play what was appropriate. Worked out fine, but the do not play list is key!!!

Funny Story....

I was at this 40th B'day party at function Hall, me and a buddy of mine noticed that the DJ......all 300 lbs. of him.....sang along and danced to all the songs he played.

so we sent one of the wives up to request Its Raining Men.......I'll tell ya, nothing funnier than a guy that size singing and dancing to that song.......especially when you have a few pops in your system
