Fest Wood update

Got a call from the saw mill today. The owner told me that this was the first day that he could cut in a week because of the weather. His main saw is outside and the logs have been frozen in tight...Today was the first good day to cut...SO...he's not sure if he'll be able to get all of the wood by tomorrow for pick up and what he does have will have to be dried a bit before use. AWC dries relatively quickly. When I get some of the damp stuff I cut to length and cross stack it in my basement with some weight on it where I have 2 dehumidifiers running 24/7. I usually have enough on hand where I can let the new stuff sit for a few weeks, but I've used it after 2 weeks and it was fine. After turning and drilling all points I just let the new wood plugs hang for a couple of days before sealing. He said he'd be making up a few inexpensive bags for guys to try or for those that want just a few pieces...I have no clue what they'll be like, or how much??? See Y'ALL on Saturday!

Here's the list one more time:

As of this moment I don't know if I'll get all of the AWC that has been ordered. I asked about the cypress and he said he was all set with that. If I run out of room I'll call one of you gents tonight to get organized for Sat. AM...Thanks

doc, I'll just take 1 bundle then. Still new at this, so it would prolly be better to not learn on good wood.

Dr.fish,

Wow, looks like I'm the big spender. My folks always said "don't blow it all at once", but I never was good at following their advice!

I'll be there tomorrow, with cash for whatever you can bring.

Can't wait!

Ok gents...Here's what I have in the truck (red Z71 Siverado crew cab)...
19 bundles @$15.00 each...clear
11 bundles @ I think you're gonna like this..$8.00 each, it's trimmed wood and there are 15 sticks per bundle...this is what I use because it's cheap and I can squeeze lots of plugs out of it.

I also have about 7 or 8 Cypress planks...They look like 2 X 6 in X varying lengths...prices as marked...

This is what the mill owner told me:

"I cut this out of logs that were between 1 year and 18 months old. I will still require some drying, but inside out of the weather and cut to size it should be OK to use in a couple of weeks...Hmmm...where did I here that before.

With what I have I can work down the list to Togue if he'll take only 7 bundles. I might have enough cypress down to BIGRED.

If I can't get to you in this load he said for me to see what else you gents want and he'll do his best to get it cut. Like I've said in the past...his main business is specialty high end shingles and building/repair season is approaching rapidly so plug wood is not a priority. He cuts this stuff only because I bug him and even though he had to move his mill he still lives near me and doesn't want to hear me whine...LMAO...

Thanks again for the wood. I've got it drying in my shed. It has a great smell to it....

If you do it again next year maybe we could just do some type of anouncement that you are there so that we could all go out at once to get it so that you wouldn't need to try and trackus all down. I know you spent a lot of time trying to find each of us..

Doc, I'd be willing to help you out next time. Either tracking people down or something like that. I didn't even know you had left until I didn't see your truck outside.

Anyway, wood is in my parents basement drying out. Thanks again.
