im hoping someone can help me source wood for turning plugs.clear pine doesnt seem to be a problem but others are proving to be a little more difficult. thanks in advance
i use red and white cedar i get from the lumber yards.
stuff ant cheep a western red is $50 for a 8' 4x4 but its all clean cedar so no waste and after cutting you get 40 to 50 plug blanks .
or for the smaller plugs i will buy a 2x4 and cutt it up.
i cant find ayc any place in nj and dont want to do the mail order thing so thats my 2cents good luck
Stopped by Liberty Cedar this after noon & its true they are out of AYC 2X2 s4s balisters but they have a lot of 2X4 rough. If you have a table saw blanks are a cut or two away. $4.50 a board foot. The balisters are at least two weeks away if the shipper doesnt have something larger to ship. (more $$)
