When will Biden deliver on this promise?

" I promise you if I'm elected president, you're going to see the single most important thing that changes America. We're gonna cure cancer."

That's not very ambiguous, he uses the phrase "I promise you..."

Curious what the libs here think about that "promise".

WDMSO, in the other thread, you said words without actions, are meaningless. So how will you react if Bidens first term comes and goes, and he fails completely in delivering on that promise?

Maybe you should check with TRUMP

A week later, on June 18, Trump made a similarly prophetic statement during his 2020 kickoff rally in Orlando, Florida, as he listed several agenda items for a second term.

“We will come up with the cures to many, many problems, to many, many diseases, including cancer and others,” he said. “And we’re getting closer all the time.”

Ps Jim once again your confusing Trying a goal with. TRUMPS LYING and not Trying. Whos POTUS. And haven't you heard we've defeated covid

Where did Trump say that finding a cure for cancer, was contingent upon his getting elected? Can you point to that?

"your confusing Trying a goal with. TRUMPS LYING and not Trying"

Youre the one confusing what was said, with something that wasn't said. You honestly see no difference between announcing a goal, and promising to deliver on something?

What are you afraid would happen, exactly, if you just said "Biden shouldn't have said that".

EVerything is about Trump. Everything. Especially when someone fairly points out bad behavior by democrats. "But Trump..."

How about YOU. Do you hold Trump and Biden to the same standards

I have criticized Trump here 1,000 times. Can you criticize Biden's asinine and cruel "promise"? Nope. Who is the hypocrite? How is it not you?

Trump promised they would end the pandemic and it’s in print now that this administration ended it, thank you Donald. The head of the CIA and FBI better beware, Trump promises to fire them both if elected, curious who benefits from that. Rhetorical question of course.

if I'm elected president. Hard to direct federal funds to cancer treatments and research if your not the POTUS

As for Cruel promise..? . get back to me when you bury a wife a 1 year old then an adult son from cancer ... A Promise to cure cancer upsets you more than banging a porn star and paying her off all while being married. Who is the hypocrite

except he didn’t say he’d increase funding. he promised a cure.

again, i asked you which one of us is the hypocrite, and why it isn’t you since you can never criticize biden.

you’re right, promising a cure for cancer is a million times worse than banging a porn star. his being a boo or husband and father ( see? i can call him
that, i can be honest about the obvious, you can’t) only effects his wife and kids, if they don’t care what he does, jen why should i care.

promising a cure for cancer is exploiting people with a deadly disease, how is that any different from the lowest kind of snake oil salesman? promising a cure for dying people, but only if you win an election? you. any condemn THAT?

whew. ppl

“if i win, i promise you’ll live.”.

you can’t condemn that?

Trump promised thousands in Oklahoma a bus ride back to their cars, I guess his credit was turned down, so he left them to freeze for a couple hours.

Seriously??? Having viewed this forum (admittedly from a distance) over the past four years, I find your statement, in boldface, laughable. And you know that I have always been a leaning right of center independent.

At this point I am reduced to hoping and praying that whoever wins can and will REUNITE this country... And despite disagreeing with the many policies that may come with that, I would accept that. We are nothing if we cannot stand shoulder to shoulder with our fellow Americans, united as Americans first. And that is surely not the case presently.

if anyone knows why it’s sick
to profit from giving false hope to those with cancer, it ought to be him.

ah, you’re criticizing trump from cheating on his wife. yet bill clinton, the liberal hero, gets a prime
speaking slot at the dnc.

do you have ANY standards at all which you apply equally? do liberals get a pass from you on everything?

Is it Biden? The one who told a room full of blacks, that Republicans "want to put y'all back in chains"? Is that a blueprint for unity? Doesn't get any more dishonestly divisive than that.

Covita's track record for 4 years
No healthcare plan, higher middle lower class taxes, Rich people pay no taxes, 224,000 dead Americans, 11,000,000 unemployed Americans, 8,000,000 more Americans in Poverty, while Donald Trump used well over 100,000,000 in tax money for golf

"No healthcare plan"

True, and fair to criticize him for.

"higher middle lower class taxes"

Nope. He doubled the standard deduction, and increased child tax credits. These are things that don't help the wealthy at all, they specifically target middle and lower class people. That was demonstrably false bullsh*t. If you are low/middle class and have no kids and live in a blue state and you have a ton of state and local taxes (which not many poor people pay, as they don't have expensive cars and big houses), then MAYBE your federal liability went up. Only in that case. You're lying Pete.

"Rich people pay no taxes"

some pay little, some pay a ton.

"224,000 dead Americans, 11,000,000 unemployed "

For the 50th time, what policies was Biden calling for back in January, which you think would have improved those numbers? Its a global pandemic, and we are a free country. We're vulnerable. Look at the political leanings of the states with the highest death rates.

You left out a few things from the past 4 years, I'm sure it wasn't intentional, must have slipped your mind...

didn't get us in any questionable wars (first POTUS in a long time who can say that)
raises and better benefits for the military
lowest minority unemployment ever, pre covid
criminal justice reform
economic opportunity zones in blighted areas
saw the US become energy independent, and a net exporter of oil
making progress in the middle east
increased funding for black colleges
ISIS on their knees

Hate him all you want, that's an impressive list, and if a democrat had done that, you and Spence would be all out of sperm.

either that, or you're a liar.

Did Biden say that you ain't black if you aren't supporting him?

Did Biden tell a room full of blacks at a campaign stop in 2012, that "they want to put y'all back in chains"?

Where is the hyperbole?

Watch Trumps latest state of the union. When he mentioned lowest black unemployment ever, the republicans went berserk in celebration, and the democrats all sat there miserable, scowls on their faces.

Tell us why each side reacted the way they did, please, if the GOP wants blacks in chains?

He gave it to Lesley Stahl, just kidding. But the big book was heavy. Filled with executive orders, congressional initiatives, but no comprehensive health plan. And then his press secretary claimed it was in there.

On the whole, low-income families appear to have received the least savings, while high-income families saved the most. Middle-class families saw mixed results.

Just how well would the states that had lower death rates do without the states funding the federal government for them. https://assets.documentcloud.org/doc...c-Playbook.pdf

You left out a few things from the past 4 years, I'm sure it wasn't intentional, must have slipped your mind...

didn't get us in any questionable wars (first POTUS in a long time who can say that)
It's a good thing, it is obvious that he is incapable of dealing with any crisis
raises and better benefits for the military
Trump could accurately say that the 2018 pay increase he signed into law, 2.4%, was the largest in close to 10 years: It was the biggest raise for the troops since the 3.4% increase that President Barack Obama signed into law for 2010. The 2019 raise, 2.6%, was also the largest since 2010.
But these raises were certainly not the first in close to 10 years.

lowest minority unemployment ever, pre covid
Remember that tide thing?
criminal justice reform
Sure he signed a bill from Congress and then there are these impressive actions to date:

Restricted clemency to only those who are celebrities, well-connected individuals, or have a personal affiliation with the president
Encouraged the use of excessive police force on peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors
Threatened maximum sentences for vandalism of monuments
Restarted federal executions after a 17-year informal moratorium on federal capital punishment
Secretly altered the risk assessment authorized in the FIRST Step Act to drastically reduce the number of federally incarcerated people eligible to be released to subdue the spread of COVID-19
Denied federal coronavirus relief funding to small business owners with a criminal record
Argued in court against people eligible for sentence reductions under the FIRST STEP Act
Jeopardized the FIRST STEP Act by underfunding its programs
Reinstated DOJ contracts with private prisons
Left director of the Bureau of Prisons position vacant for more than a year
Disbanded a program to create federal prison education systems
Closed halfway houses that help those incarcerated transition back to the community
Prohibited federal investigations of patterns of unconstitutional policing
Stopped assistance to police departments that voluntarily wanted reform
Eliminated restrictions preventing police departments from obtaining military equipment
Eliminated community-based violence prevention programs
Condemned public criticism of police by threatening that protestors “might find themselves without the protection they need”
Eliminated DOJ community policing program grants in proposed executive budget
Attacked prosecutors who are pursuing criminal justice reform in their communitites
Proposed to eliminate a DOJ office dedicated to help communities reduce racial conflict
Rescinded federal guidance meant to stem the flow of the school to prison pipeline
Ordered federal prosecutors to pursue the harshest punishments possible
Threatened federal prosecutions for marijuana in states where it is legal
Attempted to resume use of the federal death penalty and encouraged expansion of the death penalty in drug cases
Waged the same failed war on drugs from the 80s
Attempted to force federal job candidates to disclose participation in diversion programs
Expanded the federal use of civil asset forfeiture
Suspended the national forensic science commission
Failed to report on deaths in police custody as required by Congress
Disbanded the DOJ Science Advisory Board that provided evidence-based rigor to DOJ policies
Rescinded DOJ guidance that warned courts against excessive fees and fines

economic opportunity zones in blighted areas
Save the suburbs
saw the US become energy independent, and a net exporter of oil
Simplistic at best, The vulnerability of U.S. consumers to global oil price spikes depends not on how much oil the United States imports, but on how much it consumes. The best way to insulate drivers from inevitable oil price shocks is to reduce how much oil we use in the first place. In this light, the Trump administration’s decision to roll back fuel-economy standards is also misguided.
making progress in the middle east
Some, but "The UAE reiterated its commitment to the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on relevant UN resolutions".
increased funding for black colleges
Sure, he signed stuff
The White House under Trump has each year proposed steep cuts to higher education and scientific research. And some of those suggested cuts, such as the 2018 White House proposal to restructure and slash TRIO programs by 40 percent, would disproportionately affect HBCU students. Trump also has sought to eliminate the Strengthening Historically Black Colleges program.
Luckily, Congress has ignored virtually all the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to higher education.

ISIS on their knees
Hardly
The Islamic State group, essentially pushed out of Iraq and Syria by a U.S.-led coalition in March 2019, has re-established itself in Africa, conducting attacks in 13 countries, capturing territory and establishing de facto governments in portions of two of them in the past year and a half, a report by a West Point-affiliated policy institute says.

"On the whole, low-income families appear to have received the least savings"

That's not even close to what you said. Here is what you said, an exact quote..."higher middle lower class taxes"

You said he raised taxes on average people. If you want to say that less benefit should have gone to corporations and more to average citizens, that's fine. But that's not even close to what you said.

"Just how well would the states that had lower death rates do without the states funding the federal government for them"

Beats me. No data on that. But it doesn't take money from a rich liberal state, for a poor conservative state to know that if a virus is especially deadly to seniors, forcing nursing homes to accept covid-positive patients probably isn't a great idea.

How do we unite, as Americans, the traditionalist personal responsibility free market folks who revere the Constitution with those who think America must be fundamentally transformed, that it was founded on and always has been racist, homophobic, oppressive, sexist, war mongering rapist of the world's resources, a totally inegalitarian, oppressive, mean spirited ogre backed up by an outdated piece of paper that prevents the government from having the power to do all the things that would guarantee the best outcome for every person?

How do we unite, as Americans, those who want an actually sovereign nation with those who see that as fascistic nationalism and prefer a globalist view with a global governing body that dictates health, energy, immigration, and economic policies (for starters)?

How do we unite as Americans those who want a constitutionally limited government with those who prefer a government with the power to control every aspect of our lives?

Do you think there is some "middle" ground between those views? If there is, then how is that "American"? Why aren't the "extremes" American? If being "American" is in constant flux, then there is no constant definable "American."

What is your definition of "American"?

Russian hackers taking down US hospitals forcing complete shutdowns of all computer systems, forcing patient transfers and it’s rumored the list of target hospitals is in the hundreds. I’m sure Donald will pick up the phone and ask his buddy Putin to knock it off. It’s those types of national security threats our fearless leader will not handle, especially if it’s from authoritarian governments he has become chummy with.

It’s very likely they are also using these same methods and randsomware to influence the election, obviously the main reason Trump will deny its Russian hackers or he will dismiss as fake news.
