why? what good would they do? Typically you need a lot of weight to keep it as vertical as possible. Even in 100' of water I find myself looking for 10 oz jigs. Any current at all and a 1 oz butterfly becomes worthless. I think the lightest I use is 4 oz.

Point Jude Deep Force Slim jigs. I picked up some at RISAA but usually don't use much less than 4oz either. I'm pretty sure they had some in the slims that were less than 4oz.

I would do as Niko suggested and re-rig the Crippled Herrings butterfly style. Or Swedish Pimples and Deadly #^&#^&#^&#^&s.

i to this day do not understand the concept of the hooks on top vs the bottom, meaning the advantages or disadvantages, especially from a jigging stand point.. sorry to hijack the thread

Braid makes a tiny jig or drill a hole in a quarter.
The advantage of the hook on the top is when your fighting the fish the jig is just dangling out of the way. You're connected from the line, to the solid ring, right to the hook.
The other way your connected thru the jig which can fall appart or the fish can wriggle it around using the weight of the jig like a swinging lever
