So I'm walking my dog this morning.....

when two large dogs came running right at us... growling and making lunges towards us in a very threatening manner. When the larger of the two came too close, I decided to take action. I timed a perfect, very hard kick right to his gut which lifted him off the ground and spun him around. I turned to the other dog but he wanted no part of it. Next time I wont be as nice. Would be a shame if one of them gets seriously injured, but I will not hesitate to protect myself and my dog while we take our morning walk on a public road. Not the first time that I've seen these two running loose on public property..

You did the responsible thing Bob, ....unlike the owner of those two other dogs.
You were only protecting yourself and your dog.

A responsible dog owner should always know where his dog is.....especially when unleashed.

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

Too bad for the dogs.... they dont know any better. But the next time it wont be just a boot to the rib cage. If it had been my wife or some one else who shows fear it could have become a very bad situation.
I'm not inclined to call the dog officer or dog owner(not sure who owns them anyway), that doesn't usually accomplish much.

I've been attacked by dogs before, had a newspaper route as a kid, bitten more than once by customers dogs. I don't play around and wait for them to make the first move or show any sign of fear, which only fuels their aggression.

I hope the dogs remember me and just stay away

I would bet they will not forget and hopefully they will make the connection that people are the "alphas" will act accordingly.

If you, or anyone else in your area has a similar experience I would NOT hesitate to notify the animal control people stressing that "the dogs are not a nuisance but a THREAT.
They are required to take action.

Sad that the dogs will end up paying the price for poor ownership and training.

I am a legend in my own mind!
