Clothes dryer problem/solution

Purchased a home in Narragansett, yes its great to be back. Anyway, the dryer would not dry clothes and the previous owner said it was an element; I disagreed with this assessment since it would be like a sauna in there. Make a long story short, I found that the exhaust vent passed thru a cold cellar and after cleaning the corrugated vent pipe, replacing most of it with solid duct and still not getting clothes dry, I poked a hole in the low point of the corrugated vent where I drained 1/2 gallon of H2O. Condensation from hot to cold was causing this water problem. Solution: Vent the dryer up thru the roof (happily less than a ten foot run), clothes dry in no time... basic physics.
