How much is a Just PLug It danny from 10 years ago worth?

sorry Dave I forgot to ask Peter that question. Me forgetful.

I got a beautiful large surfster by Justplugit.

I'll try and post up a few really old large Pikies made by Manziac. They are crude and some of his first ones made. Probably worth millions.

I thought when we are talking about Fatboys those are his fat dannys.

The pikie story I heard was that Bruce May and Manzi started making pikies together under the advice of Mike Fixter and that Bruces pikies where better than Daves then.

This Pikie is supposed to be one of Daves first and actually looks better in the picture than in my hand. Lip is all hand snipped and crude is a kind word. But Dave got much better and I can dig out some later Pikies for pictures that are top of the line pikies.

I need to know all this for as the future curator of the Manzi Plug museum.

I've got this one I'll never use. Flap gave it to me. Its a Manzi Pikie, 8.3", red cedar, very rough (big epoxy sag on the slope which you can see in the picture, re-sawn lip slot, and crude hook holes). Supposedly someone, Manzi maybe, took a massive fish on a similar one. Is signed but I think it would be better fished than hung. I could be open to a trade for it.

George-I would be interested in trading for that pikie. I don't know what you may be interested in- but if you can post here or you can send me a PM if you want.

I would be interested in the Fatboy - which I still think is a Danny.

I have some Manzi pikies that must be from his mature period-- that are better- even have the red glitter chin a la fixter.

I got my plugs from Dave's shop. I had Flaptail pick them out for me when we met at Dave's house a bunch of years ago. Dave took several plugs from me at plugfest and he told me I could come over and get some of his. Steve told me he would go with me and pick some out for me. Dave had a large collection of Fixters that he would not give up so Flaptail picked the ones he thought were good for catching of course Dave kept saying no on everything we choose. I still think Dave made out better on the deal. He recently tried to friend me on facebook so he is still alive.

I think that Dave is the George Ohr of plug makers.

George Ohr in the 1890s was known as the Mad Potter of Biloxi Missisippi. He was very eccentric and dressed in odd clothes and made strange and wierd pieces of pottery with glazes that were not like the other potters of the day. No two pots were alike. He had a shop full of pots but never sold any because he demanded $30 a pot when the going price was 50 cents. He thought his pots were priceless and even sent some to the Smithsonian Museum but they sent them back. Discouraged he packed all of this pots in wooden crates and stopped and never made another piece.

In 1968, an art dealers car broke down in Beloxi and he took it to a gas station that happened to be owned by 2 grandsons of George Ohr. While waiting to get his car fixed the Art Dealer saw a strange tortured looking piece of pottery on a shelf and asked if there were any more like those around. The grandson said yes there were thousands of pots in crates in the shed out in the back and so the pots were discovered.

George Ohr is now considered the genius father of modern art ceramics. One of his pots sold for $80,000, there is a George Ohr museum and they are now in the Smithsonian.

So Dave made plugs that no two are alike and kept all of his plugs in a shed and did not want to sell any and he is kind of Mad and his plugs run the range from crude to genius some with bizzare glazes. And they catch bass.

All of his plugs are interesting to me. Some are unique. I think he put a piece of wood on a lathe and just turned plugs based on whatever came over him.

So is Dave George Ohr? Its the Twilight Zone. Next stop Beloxi.

Maybe I am the crazy one.

So if anyone wants to sell or trade one or more of their Daves plugs I am interested. I have alot of plugs to trade

George I have a NIB that I could part with. But I would want that pikie and one of your musso clone darters. My friend Billy D= first cast with one from you and he caught a nice bass.

I can bring the Tony plug to Too Cold To Fish and you can look at it. No obligation

This is spooky. This is from a Smithsonian article on George Ohr.

Though just 52, he never threw another pot. Having inherited a comfortable sum when his parents died, he devoted the rest of his life to enhancing his reputation as a loon. He let his beard grow long, and donning a flowing robe for Biloxi’s Mardi Gras, he roamed the streets as Father Time. In his final years, he could be seen racing a motorcycle on the beach, white hair and beard flying.

Motorcycle. Patches!!!!! HA - in Pajamas !!!

I'll bring a few of the pajama wearing motorcycle riding fruitcakes that I would sell to too cold to fish. bring your wallet. A couple are hideous ugly with razor sharp burrs on the lips and it looks like he use a hatchet to cut them from a tin soup can but all Dave for sure. P

My wallet is pretty beat after buying Eben's herd but I will do my best.

Look how good he got at Pikies- see the Fishing Freak's mack pikie. When he was good he was very good. Those plugs are special.

His Blue needle tail wrap does not look like typical wild Manzi wrap.

Only Manzi I own that I think he made, not sure what hatch this might match, unless you are fishing on the African Plains.

Dave has this Avatar picture of a needle with all of this hair sticking out and I thought it was something he made up for his avatar.

But it looks like he made more than one. I think he calls it his freak needle. So you got the freak on.

Another example of why Dave is different.

It's probably a one of a kind, so when your wallet fattens up make me an offer, because right now it's my conversation starter.

I have one just like it Bob, sorry to burst your bubble. I think he made a few for a swap. They certainly are unique.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
