Favorite guitar solos

Not the fastest, and none of them are 'the 30 best' but what are your favorite to hear on the radio? Known or unknown guitarists.. In otherwords, what gets you air guitaring? NO CRITICAL Comments like "Yuck, how do you like that"

There are hundreds I can think of, but two that popped on recently that are favorites...

I love the exit solo on White room. not the fastest, or longest of Claptons, but a favorite...

Killer queen; Brian May, astrophysist...

good thread,

I'll stipulate these are some of my favorite rock solos

Jeff Beck - Cause we've ended as lovers. Amazing phrasing and the entire song build to the solo.

Jimmy Page - Ten Years Gone
Love the flange/phase effect and beautiful up of the solo. listen how he begins the solo at 2:30

For air guitar, the ultimate guitar explosion 3minutes and 48 seconds of one giant flash guitar showcase. This never gets old to me.

A couple of my favorites.

"That large bass rise in the dim light of the false dawn, and take my steel-lipped swimmer. It will thrash, pull like mad and throw water all over the place before it dives for refuge.
This is why I am a surfcaster." - D.J. Muller

I don't get utube at work, but Van Halen's Eruption and Little Guitars are at the top of my list. Prince's Lets Go Crazy is up there too.

RIJimmy, sorry for the dup, but I like this version better..and is a double header, as it also features one of the better bass solos as well.

And, while Prince is not always on my "top ten"..
I think he owned it here:

and waayy too many more to list..

good thread!

Those are all great selections. Here's another decent one but just a little different from Duke Robillard.

An odd mix of jazz and country that works so well. Listen to George Bensons solo in the middle of the song. That guitar is smooth as butter in his hands.

Tom Verlaine...Tom Verlaine... wow, I did not see that coming. Great pick that one! As are all of the above in their own right.

My first come to mind favs always seem to be Metheny "Amelia" live from Shadows and Light, and Gilmore "Shine on You Crazy Diamond".

Suppose I would also offer up Frank Zappa - Variation On The Carlos Santana Secret Chord Progression, John McLaughlin with Mahavishnu Orchestra "Meeting of the Spirits", Al DiMeola "Race With The Devil on a Spanish Hwy".

Tom Verlaine....wow

Maybe we should be having a Vinyl Fest or something just like it.
