Senator's health care plan skips public option

Senator's health care plan skips public option
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/...are/index.html

Republicans put all their eggs in the "Public Option" basket in trying to shoot this down. Now that it has been taken out, and even though the waters are still muddied from the opposition's mis-information, this bill is well on its way to becoming law.

Obama quote:
"The Congress and the country have been engaged in various debates for many months now" Obama said,
" and THE DEBATE HAS BEEN GOOD, and that's important because we have to get it right.''

What happened to," we must pass this before the August recess?????

LMAO. Obama is a study in contradictions.

If the plan passes without a public option, it will only because the people had a chance to speak.

Come on, this is politics after all. Very common for a President to set an aggressive time line. Unfortunately for Obama the Dems in the House didn't have their act together.

JD, Republicans (and conservative Democrats) didn't want the "Public Option" because it had a ridiculous pricetag attached. They weren't just using it as an excuse to shoot down health care reform. I think most Republicans would say that health care needs to be reformed. The public option was just another way of hitting the taxpayers in the wallet and most politicians knew that would go over like a fart in church.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio

I agree with everything you said. However, the bill is still terrible, in my opinion. With the Republicans' focus on the Public Option, none of the other terrible points have been addressed. And yes, the bill is ridiculous in size and even a person that pays above-average attention to these things can't be expected to know the full contents.

That's a pretty common remark after or during a particularly ugly or messy fight. It's called sarcasm.

Your right, the sarcasm was meant for Obama after doing everything in his
power to get his HC passed before it could be debated, then saying,
"The debate had been good", like that's what he wanted.

Passing HC, imho, is what he wants to hang his hat on.

It will be interesting to hear what he has to say at the joint meeting of Congress.

After the joint session address, they'll circle the wagons and pass something - they've got enough democrats to push something through.

Ya Joe, i think something will come to pass, but the public option
puts Obama between a rock and a hard place with the leftist Dems,
Pelosi et al on one side and the blue dogs on the other.

It's only a year in, but if he wants to be considered for a chance in 2012, siding with the blue dogs will be the correct bet.
