Broken Harnell

Hi
Wondering if any of you guys think it is possible to repair this rod. It's one of 4 Harnell trolling rods I've had for 40 yrs. and still have the socks for them.
Last spring a frozen drag and a lobster pot did her in,,, luckily she snapped just when I got my hands on it.
I'm thinking of stripping the whole rod down and rebuilding it if I can come up with a way to remove the wood dowel that appears to be running from the butt and probably up to the top of the seat.
Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Gup

Your best bet would be to try to run a hand drill down into it to get the wooden plug out. Better hope its just a short way sveral inches) in on either side.

yup,,,
she snapped right at the top of the rod holder. I'm guessing the blank (all blanks?) need reinforcement at that point. If the drill out doesn't look promising I may see what I can do with a sleeve over with maybe a twine wrap on top.

winter work in progress,,, thanks, Gup
