Cankerworms

Little bastids are eating up my maple trees again.... And their droppings make a real mess of the cars and truck. Anyone have experience dealing with these miserable bugs?

I left my car under the Norway maples in my yard for the weekend, and it was plastered with tiny black caterpillar dropping.
Are those the result of the winter moths that were hovering around my kitchen window?

yes. If you go out late at night you can hear them chomping on the leaves, and the sound of their droppings falling through what's left of the foliage......

They're tearing my trees up as well. they've been dropping down and eating my other plants as well.....been hitting those with Sevin dust to help control that though.

Those little balls can stain a boat, so just be aware.... Scrubbed a bunch of purple stains off once, not again.

Yeah, I am going to call about getting Bt sprayed. It is a big tree. Currently looks like it has been in the middle of a skeet range

Sure they are not winter moth caterpillars. They have eaten most of my oaks and maples like last 5 years. PIA.

i used to use BT on my broccoli but it would change the color
of the broccoli leaves kinda like how that protectant spray turns
plastic car bumpers a darker grey .... but it sure penetrates
a catapillar body fast... and they die fairly soon without using
toxic chemicals
