interesting thing about turkeys is...

a deer or two .......are always within sight of them

their eye sight is better or their senses.. and the deer will graze near them and use them as a tool to avoid danger...

i've been fencing them out here...as the last owner fed them cracked corn for 20 years...

with my dog out of commission, i now have to keep a sharp ear...
for that single cluck...

half the time they are standing right in the middle of our road...

but.... try and follow them or sneak up on them...
and they'll outsmart you every time

I bet that there's 8 or 10 dead ones along I-495.

I have a couple flocks on the property here, too. They're so common nowadays my head doesn't even turn to look anymore. They're like pigeons.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Can you hit them with a golf ball? Is that a legal hunting mechanism?

yea those gullotines are pretty slick. I've got my bow ready - hanging up on a hanger in my room with a broadhead on stand-by for apr 30th and the next tom that walks by my window.

any bowhunters on S-B?

Ive got a darton maverick extreme 30" dl / 60# dw. Its got a cobra sight and trophy taker drop-away rest, shooting 250gr carbon express maxima sharfts with 75gr broadheads. It shoots around 280fps. I love my bow.

This may sound like a dumb question but why do you have to chase em away? Do they eat your gardens? Not too many turkeys in my parts.
That video was pretty wild. Poor birdie just trying to get a little action and bam....no head. mmmmmm dinner.

yes they eat in gardens

they can destroy a garden in a single day
trying to dig up all the earth worms
their favorite food... they'll rip out
a whole row of onions in 20 minutes

or just trample on everything..
their legs are super strong

they are also trying to eat my asparagus
to me...they are an up periscope head...
friggan pest.... and sneaky as hell.

i'm wishing ...i had some bottle rockets.

The way the turkey stomped the decoys in that video, they seem like they can be pretty nasty.

Can they jump fences or is that good enough to keep em away?

Bring out the dogs.
