Gizzard shad

I owed Jigman a plug so I made a Gizzard shad which lives in his area. The bottom plug is my plug project contribution.

Tell the truth SK. You freeze dried a shads head and then glued the skin onto that plug , didnt you ?

Truly outstanding work.

I paint the plug normally. I then cut a stencil, which will do a base coat (airbrushed) from the nose to the gills. I then fill in the face with: airbrush, archival marker, 4 type of paint brushes,
q-tips, tissues, my fingers , and anything else I can use.
During the painting of the face I may cut additional smaller stencils for the airbrush highlights but on this one
I just used my fingers to mask parts.( I got lazy)

These plugs have 14 different paint colors on them ( hard to see on these pictures)
I do a lot of blending of colors to get the effect I’m looking for.

The funny part is I can crank out painting like this but I can’t thru drill a plug to save my life.
