In the suds

Fished for the first time, in the surf, last night. Allstar 1208, VS 200, 50# PP Slick and 3oz, white Storm Shad heavy. 2 fish both high teens. Still swimming. It felt good to wet a line and be on land.

Consider yourself quite lucky to have landed 2 fish on a single outing. I've logged more than 20 trips this season and have a grand total of 6 bass landed without a single outing producing more than 1 fish. Yeah, the fishery is doing just fine...

Wtf.
It is almost the middle of June and I still haven't caught a keeper yet. Plenty of flip flops. Partner has maybe 6 small keepers. We have been givin it hell pounding good areas with no results. Scary.
And we count on u and Jay gettin em cause it at least gives us hope and a Time frame when we can anticipate fish showin up
Not good at all

The places I have fished in the past in June that always produced are SLOW this year. The new moon in June used to be a sure thing for large. Not so much any more. Glad you got into a few Paul.

We've know this was coming for the last 10 yrs.... back to one fish at 36" and no commercial sales would go a long way to saving the striped ones. When a fish has a high price tag on its head it brings out the greediness and cheats.

Actually enforcing the current rec rules/ black mrrket sellers and buyers would do much more. Or make tighter regs that are ignored and not enforced

What do ya think about this..

The DMF says the largest Striper mortality is from rec release,,, if the min. size is increased will there not be more mortality looking for larger fish?

Just thinking.....

I knew things were bad but I didn't think it was this bad. Based on what you all are saying, it's worse than we believed.
I mean it's not like a lot of us haven't been singing this song for a long time. When they are all gone the pundits will realize we ( the diehard striper men and women), knew what we were talking about.

For what it's worth, I did fish the same way I always fished in the surf. 15 to 20 minutes in each spot and if I didn't get a bump I moved. I moved quite a few times and the 2 fish were separated by about a mile and a half of shoreline.

No boat, back in the suds.

Nice job Paul. Your right, their either there or there not. Spent to many nights standing on one rock waiting for them to show up to no luck.

I’m just glad I started playing golf.
That way I don’t have to drive hours to get frustrated.

You guys are making me not want to try again.

Anyway, I heard the Canal had heated up somewhat. Maybe I should really be crazy and head up to the River of Insanity.

Playing golf Paul would be far less frustrating and less stressful. I still would like to get a group of us guys out for a round of golf, 4-5 hours of swapping stories while enjoying a round would be fun.

I'd be in! We can play at Crystal Lake where we have a family membership. Discount greens fees, cart fees and pro shop.
Let's see if we can put something together for after the 4th.
