Purchase

I am getting ready to purchase a mirage drive. I have had enough paddling.
I am looking to buy an outback or revo. Where is the best place to buy one? Online?

Greg here is the real poop! I bought my Pro Angler from Austin Kayak in Texas and had it shipped to my home and the transaction was perfect with no hitches at all! I was very pleased! The reason I did this at the time was my local Hobie Dealer could not match the online price I was getting, nevermind the fact I was not going to have to pay the sales tax and shipping was only $75! (At the time....it is now $200 to ship). We bought my wifes Outback from Monahans in Weymouth....got a great price and they are very good there! I had a few issues with them but have resolved them and the folks there are great! I am looking to upgrade to a newer model PA basically because I want the updated steering system (there is an update kit I could put in mine but I don't feel like monkeying with that....looks like a great kit!) Mine is for sale and for a great price...see classifieds! Depending on who you talk with they will not recommend buying online and having it shipped (Tagger had quite an issue doing it this way and it was quite an ordeal for him.....in all fairness I recommended Austin Kayak to him but he chose to go with another dealer to buy online.) Austin was great in that they had my kayak packed with heavy cardboard and wrapped with some type of tarp material......just very carefully packed and shipped. Long story short......go to Monahans and speak with them, see what they have and how they are priced. Heads up....I hear if you buy a kayak from them at the MSBA show in March they are offering a $200 store gift card to sweeten the deal! I will be buying my new PA from them and probably at the show so I can take advantage of this offering. If you are interested in a used PA let me know......its in near new condition and I might be able to bend a bit further on the price. If you want to give it a try in the water we can do that too! Hope I helped!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Bigfish has a Pro-Angler for sale.

I have the Outback and the thing is pissah....And I'm pretty sure that BlondTerror has the Revo...so he may chime in as well on his

The big fifference between the 2 that I can see is the Width...The outback is a few inches wider, which would make it a hair slower, and heavier than the revo......but also makes it a hair more stable than the Revo

Online you'll take a bath on the shipping.......Something like that I would want to buy in person anyways to make sure its in proper shape

I know up in my neck of the woods I would go to New England Small Craft in Rowley. He carries all the Hobie models as well as gear and accessories

"If you're arguing with an idiot, make sure he isn't doing the same thing."

Thanks guys. Although I am sure the pro angler is nice , I just don't think that that is the right craft for me.

Larry ,, Just so ya know, I didn't purposely ignore your advise .I like you in a manly way . . I just got that you ordered online (forgot company)and googled . Anyways ,, The kayak co. was great ,, helped me out with thier shipping co. .. It was the Shipping Company I had to put in a claim against .. So I couldn't use the kayak that year until all the paper work went through,, and then schedule an inspector that came out and inspected the kayak and packaging . Then went back and forth with the insurance company . It was a huge ordeal .. In the end I got $600 back and I consider it a used kayak . (scratches). But I missed the fall run with it . There was even more to it ,, but that's enough .

I love my outback .. I raced Mac in his Revo and stayed neck in neck with him so no huge disadvantage there vs. width . I usually paddle in and paddle out until I get my mirage drive in . No biggie but I'd hate to paddle a great distance ... Remember ... Leash it or lose it .. I rolled my yak 1st time out .
