Political Jabbering

It's funny how for so long I didn't even read the scuppers and now that I do, I've found this whole new breed of ball busters and people whose balls I can bust. I just wonder how many of you guys Dem or Rep take this stuff REALLY seriously? Now I don't mean allegence to your country or your political beliefs, I mean these posts. I sit here at work and laugh my @$$ off, at the stuff we all say. Obviously, (I'm sure ) I'm not a Bush fan and not really thrilled with the way the reps have been working things. But as scary as some of what has unfolded throughout these last 6 PAINFUL years (damn rednecks ) have been, I still look at this whole thing as an 8 year joke that will soon be over. So for the most part I take this stuff as a joke; lightly. How about the rest of you guys, what are your thoughts?

BTW, thanks for the political forum John, but I think we should rename it Politcal Battleground... treehuggers vs. rednecks or something like that.

Wow... this was clearly and unprovoked attack!

I, for one do not. I take everything that I read on the internet as Gospel. I have had countless sleepless nights and literally have had to cry myself to sleep after reading the unabashed rantings of both Spence and Skip N. They have permanently damaged my fragile Psyche.

Now this board is telling me there is no God....what next, is nothing sacred.

Why don't you just tell me that Car Salesman aren't Hionest or that Wrestling isn't real and just get it over with.

Curse you Al Gore for creating this Vile Medium.....Curse You

I'm really going to blow. JohnR did it once and I nearly shut down his server...remember, I'm on the inside

Good post Dave, truthfully, I do take it seriously. I REALLY like to debate and read others views. I may take a strong stance , just to get opinions out there. I am troubled by some of teh viewpoints from people who appear to be rational and intelligent. I think this anti-Bush focused view that is evident in peoples post is a sampling of the country. An although it may be accurate, I belevie that the REAL threat of islamic terrorism is being overlooked as fear mongering sponsored by the Bush adminstration. I beleive that my family and way of life is threatened by people who want to kill me, veryday, everywhere I go. I do not live in fear ar all, but I want to make sure my government is doing EVERTHING it can to protect my way of life. We are WAY to Dem vs. Repub and we are losing sight of the real issues. Sorry fro the rant.

Not really. Sorry to be so preachy but I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding as to why Islamic terrorim exists.

From OBL
The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies — civilians and military — is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque [Mecca] from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim.

Every Muslim, from the moment they realize the distinction in their hearts, hates Americans, hates Jews and hates Christians. For as long as I can remember, I have felt tormented and at war, and have felt hatred and animosity for Americans

I can paste pages, I dont need to UNDERSTAND why.

You call this clear reasoning that explains a lot.

"We should fully understand our religion. Fighting is a part of our religion and our Sharia [an Islamic legal code]. Those who love God and his Prophet and this religion cannot deny that. Whoever denies even a minor tenet of our religion commits the gravest sin in Islam."

It's called RHETORIC.

Compared to what passes as policy from our own politicians I'd say it's quite reasoned.

Actually this has been researched quite heavily in the most terror prone place on the planet...Palestine.

About 20% of Palestenian suicide bombers are thought to be Islamists. The vast majority are quite normal people who see no other course in life because of rage, humiliation and despair.

"Rage, humiliation and dispair". I've seen that in these threads several times. I believe the Rage part, but how have these poor muslims been humiliated? What about dispair?

I must confess I am not really interested in understanding why. I'd rather see genocide used on them. But how the f have these guys been humiliated? I believe they humiliate themselves (burkha, rape as punishment, treat women like dogs.) But how has America humiliated muslims? Have they been humiliated by political cartoons and skits on SNL?

That's obvious. I always did think genocide was a core American value.

Slapshot, thats an easy one! Look how poor countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are! We steal their oil! The poor shieks can barely afford the 200 inch tvs in the Bentleys! Look how poor Muslims are persecuted in this country! they cant worship in peace, everywhere they go, people throw rocks at them. And the LAST straw and most humiliating, our media does not show the valiant mulsim warriors beheading Americans on TV!! How shameful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're missing the point entirely.

It's a mainstream Muslim belief that Western influence has allowed Middle Eastern leaders to oppress their people to keep cheap oil flowing.

And guess what? A large part of it is true.

It doesn't mean it's our fault, they certainly have the responsibility to provide for their own people...but still, it is what it is. Bin Laden and others tap into this reality to fuel their fight.

There's volumes of reading available online or at your local library. I highly recommend taking some time to better understand the situation.

Cheap oil? Wait a minute, I thought George Bush, the GOP and BIG OIL were artificially boosting the price of oil? This is so confusing!

I think there's a little bit of world history before Bush became president.
