Favorite Concerts ?

Just curious what some of your favorite concerts are. For me, there are a few memorable ones.

1. (2) Led Zepplin concerts in NY.
2. Deep Purple (circa 1974 and again in 2010 (even better)
3. Steely Dan (1st tour after what seemed like forever !)
4. Carlos Santana ( 2-3x; all awesome)

When the Dead were touring during Jerry's last 10 years I'd have to say the Garden shows in the early 90's were some of my favs. I used to work at the Centrum as a security guard and saw some real good shows. Not in ranked in a prticular order here are some of the good ones I saw front row and side stage.

Rush
Roger Waters
Yes
Kiss
Bruce
Jerry Garcia Band w/ Clarence Clemens
Whitney Houston!! LOL I worked her dressing room and catering room and got to meet her family. She was in her prime back then and her voice was amazing.

I also went to the 25th Woodstock reunion and saw some great bands there.

Paul Rodgers
Areosmith
Metallica
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
And the list goes on............I was pretty sober compared to most that attended. We did bring in a bunch of booze and some other trinkets but I paced myself pretty good so I could enjoy the music.

Now-a-days I spend time with my friends that play in a local cover band and that does the trick for my live music cravings and budget. Concerts are too freakin expensive now. I want to go to VH but the tix range from $150 for the balcony to $300 for the floor. No way I'm paying that.

The best shows I ever saw would run like this:
Any of the NYC Springsteen shows in 75 -78 period.
Joan Armatrading at the Beacon.
Allman Brothers at the Beacon with Eric Clapton in 2009.
Jackson Browne and Linda Ronstadt at Carnegie Hall

Where do you start when a lot of them are lost in the back of the brain.

Any Dead show( unknown how many) was always special but some really neat ones were, (anyone remember these) Aerosmith at the Viking Hotel in 73, Roger McGuinn at Salt in Newport in 74ish, Mountain in the Newport Blues Cafe. I'm pretty much a small venue person now, but in the day there are too many to number.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPI I cut my deck to the Queen of Spades, but the cards were all the same

Lynard Skynard Tribute Tour in 1987 was great.

Rush so many times. Snakes and Arrows was best though.

Flecktones at the M Shop at Iowa State way before they got popular was incredible. Having Bela bump into you while soloing and and a long chat with Vic after the show was something I'll never forget.

Aerosmith at the Boston Music Hall in '78
Black Sabbath/ Blue Oyster Cult at the Garden '81?
Ozzy at the Orpheum '81
Springsteen Providence '84
Many Dead shows between '85 and '94 The Albany NY shows in '90 really stand out.

Recently was Warren Haynes Band at the Orpheum last May. That place is still a dump.

I am jealous of Kevin (mostly the Tubes and Ramones)

THE Brothers at the Palace in Albany 1980, #^&#^&#^&#^&ie was "en fuego"

Yes in Philly reunited with Wakeman, Philly was the ultimate Yes town in the day, and they responded in kind

CSN outdoors in Philly on an absolutely beautiful summer night, I can still hear the harmonies of "Cathedral"

Bruce at school 79

Dregs every time, anywhere, Morse just blows me away

J Geils at Drexel, head liner did not show so they played all night

Nick Brignolla in out and about in Troy

Pat Methany anytime anywhere

Warren Zevon, 1989, Sentimental Hygiene Tour
URI, Edwards Auditorium (Small Venue)
He had been sober about two years and was in absolute top form.
After, he spoke to fans outside the bus and signed autographs for about 30 mins.

I remember that night. Through the woods and over the fence=free concert. That summer saw: santana, phish, clapton, weir solo, ziggy marley, allmans, the last lollapallooza (where they tore down the fence and burned it in the lawn area!).

All time favorites: most of the 30 or so dead shows I saw, JGB in Prov (91 & 93), many good shows at the old Living Room (w/ the bubble): ramones, rollins, the fixx, the church, bad brains, 7-seconds (86-89).

Also: Tool puts on a great show. I was impressed with the raw power of there performance each of the 3 times I saw them. Wish I was going tonight but.....I'm not.

I've only seen them once, 15th row center at the Dunk.

Raw power doesn't begin to describe the experience, it was like you were violated somehow

Dead in late 80's, I saw about 20 shows. Meadowlands was always killer.

Saw Live and Counting Crows at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, Ca in 2000. It was the most chill place I've ever been.

Further at the Orpheum in 2011 was a bone crusher as was moe in Portland this past new years.

Also saw BNL on New years eve in 1997 and they were quite entertaining believe it or not.

Stones steel wheels tour in 89 at fox pro.

Last but not least was Van Halen and Alice in Chains in Hartford 1993.

Maybe the Dead in Springfield in 1973? That was a long time ago.

So many good shows, as stated above I find I enjoy the small clubs best

Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana in Mountainview CA @ 1995
Every Fishbone show I ever went to
Janes Addiction at Rocky Point 1991
Black Uhuru at Ocean Mist
Buddy Guy at Ocean Mist
Judas Priest, New Haven Colliseum - 1983? My first concert ever and will never forget it
Iron Maiden with Yngvie Malmsteem opening @ 1985
Went to the first 3 Lollapallozas and they were great - so many good bands - Alice in Chains, Janes Add, Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Tool.....
I saw the Firm with Jimmy Page at Hartford Civic Center
Jazz - Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner - I dont think I ever saw a bad jazz concert

Moody Blues are not Jazz, more progressive rock or something similar, but def not jazz.
They describe themselves as symphonic rock.
