Windows/Word Error

OK;
Had some data recovery done on a fried laptop... keep getting this error
Any thoughts?

opening it up in notepad ? to edit it....

then change the name and save it as a doc file and re-open it in word

If it's a newer version of MS Word, select the document and use the pull down arrow next to the open button to choose "Open and Repair".

If that doesn't work, try Raven's trick. Perhaps Word is just a little freaky about the document ownership which got fudged in the rebuild.

You can also try taking ownership of the document and then re-setting the permissions.

right-click on the file and select properties....then go to the security tab and select advanced. then go to the Owner Tab and make yourself the owner. Even if it already lists you by name re-select your name again.

same name doesn't mean same SID

Saw this once, got this error for all office documents. We ended up having to create a new admin user account and transfering all files to that account, then deleting the original. Wasn't as easy as it sounds but it worked.

She said I needed a hobby we could both enjoy. Anyone know where I can get a vibrating captains chair?
