Moss on roof

I have a spot on the roof that doesn't get much sun and there is same moss starting to grow I was wondering the best way to remove it from asphalt shingles without damage to them?

I'm not sure the goat would be able to operate such a contraption.

Moss or lichen? If moss, use a wide putty knife to get off what you can without damaging shingles. Spray with cut bleach.

I used the cut bleach. I also looked into z-stop to prevent the moss. Looked good but ended up with a new roof instead. Still may put the z-stop on

nope - you can spray with an algae- cide

it's for cement but it should work just as well on shingles

similar to using bleach i suppose but designed for it

if you've got branches overhanging the roof, take them down.

Use bleach or liquid pool shock(sodium hypochlorite) and T.S.P. or Jomax in a pump up sprayer.
Wet roof FIRST and all surrounding plants, bushes, grass etc. with plain water...then apply mix to roof. Let the chemical do the work. Sometimes a second application is needed.
Don't be afraid of the bleach....it will NOT hurt asphalt shingles and is the ONLY thing that will work.

bleach is 6% sodium hypoclorite
liquid pool shock is about 12% sodium hypoclorite
I buy pool shock at Ocean State Job Lot to do all my exterior cleaning.

Also in my experience with lichen it is better to not scrape or scrub the lichen off but to just treat the roof with the mix, kill the stuff and let it eventually just die, dry up and fall off. If you scrape it it will pull off the granules on the surface of the shingle.
