DIGGER ><

.. When ya get PUPPY AT 6 WEEKS ,,,at 6 weeks ya never really know what ya getting & you name him DIGGER . before you even find out is he likes to go digging

well the very 1st time on the boat …. within 5 minutes on stopping to dig .he justs off the bow & swiMs like a FISH

3 WEEKS AGO I,M FISHING OFF A DOCK & DROP SOME SQuid & he picks it up & starts chewing it . he drops it on the ground so I figure he doesn,t like it . I pick it up & he chases me down the dock for it . I put it on top of a piling & he jumping up trying to get it >.,

Today I,m pulling pots & grass shrimp are falling out ….everytime one jumps . he gets it & its gone .<

Cute but I,m actually afraid to have with me with hooks around & even worse … all kinds of plugs ….. he not going to know what [NOT] to do ><>

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!

Clammer .. I’m so happy you got a dog. He will mellow out unless you got a spazador retriever

Ya had to see him last week . when I just dropped his leash on East Beach & let him go ><><

Talking my method

is to put the pup in the corner in the kitchen with a treat in hand to teach them to
"sit up" doesn't take long to learn

then i stick doggie beef jerky in a slit i make on a tennis ball
that's attached to a clothesline rope thru a seperate hole.

treat -em with a mini dbJ piece lettem smell the ball and throw it.

reel -em in a few times and they learn to fetch which is important
when it's time to answer the call of nature.

I tried to have my choc lab as my fishing partner. Everytime I would bring a fish to the surface she'd jump out of the boat after it. Couldn't get her to stop.

I HAVE A good friend that is a full time waterman & his, dog was a full time waterdog . they [his wife] havn,t been able to find another..I,was lucky enough to be with them on the boat quite a bit ………….this dog just loved it / everything about it and ate any fish that he could get away with but his favorite was menhaden ……… . this dog was seldom sick , no monthly visits to the vet .just age finally got him .
because [we think] that he ate so many pogies his fir was so shiny & oily that it just looking at him you knew he was different ………………. everyone has stories around their pets ….But the ones that are year round water dogs just seem to bring the best stories .

Diggers latest ……...yesterday & today …….he now runs down the ramp at the dock …… / his favorite past time [was ] trying to eat moths in the lights in the yard after dark ……… well now its trying to get the yellow jackets that are swarming the pots soon after they get pulled . waiting til he catches one & the one catches him

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!
