Angry imperfect plugs ?

I am not an experienced plug builder by any means. In fact, I pretty much enjoy refinishing older, beat-up plugs. None the less, I just picked up some 6" maverick bodies -painted them up and then gave them a coat of thinned-out devcon epoxy. N-I-C-E !

I noticed a paint chip or some other foreign object made its way into the epoxy. What do you do when this happens ?

If it's in the epoxy you can try to sand with 220 or lighter or try rubbing it out with a scotch bright pad, than re epoxy. If it's between the paint and epoxy you'll end up ruining the paint. My.02.
If your going to fish it, the fish won't mind.

I usually end up saying a few bad words then put it in my bag and fish with it. Once the paint gets knocked off, I strip them and paint again.

Thanks for the great advice. The funny thing is- I couldn't care less about the physical conditon of my plugs and I a probably use some plugs that have finishes that would make most anglers sick.

However, as you are aware, once you start painting them up you sort of become attached and the finish becomes a sense of personal accomplishment.

This particular lure, is my "bleeding herring plug" - looks great (except for the tiny paint chip that found its way into the epoxy). I just touched it up with a little matching paint.

Can't wait till catch LARGE with it.

I don't have a digital camera, so I need to work on my picture posting techniques.

I would be happy to take some plug photos for you. Just send them to me. I'll get them back to you in time to fish.....a few seasons from now

That kind of stuff happens to all of us. I had a dozen plugs on the spinner a few years ago in the kitchen. Opened the back door to let the dog out that evening and a moth flew in, headed straight for the light over the spinner, and proceeded to bounce off a couple of plugs on the way, then get stuck to one plug Man, I hate when that happens Fish still ate the plugs
