Yankee Swaps.....

Who's the Friggin Rocket Scientist who invented this. I can't stand them and it seems like everyone wants to do one.

I got one tonight, 2 tomorrow, 1 on Thursday, 1 on Christmas, and 1 next week.

If I do them I end up with Friggin Scented Candles and If I don't, then I'm a Kill Joy with no Christmas Spirit.

I Like Yankee Swaps about as much as Joe Pesci likes Drive Thru's in Lethal Weapon....."They Always %$%$%$%$ you at the Yankee Swap"

And I have issues Participating in ANYTHING with the Word "Yankee" in it

"If you're arguing with an idiot, make sure he isn't doing the same thing."

Yankee plug swap and one at home, thats it. The people at work were promptly told to kiss my ___ when I was asked. They called me scrouge for a week, but they left me the hell alone!

These can be great, you just need to get the right gift. Some porn tapes from the 70's, or a dime bag, for instance. Always sure to create interesting conversation.

I must agree....the past couple years I put in decent gifts.....to only get useless gifts.

For example:

One year I got 4 bath towels
One year I got a Life Magazine Coffee table book from Bldg 19 and 2 homemade Cd's with Lawrence Welk music
One year I got a Red Sox T -Shirt that was too small and a World Champions Hat that was missing the "C" on the hat (said hampions)
One year my smart A$$ Uncle boxed up a package of toilet paper...was a big box so I picked it......

It was the first year we started the Yankee Swap.....He objected but everyone else wanted to do it....so he decided to pull a fast one.
Now I know why he objected....and I agree with him.

Not sure if I understand the Yankee Swap though.

The way we do it is, everyone buys a co-ed gift..all the gifts go in the middle...then we pick numbers and the person with #1 picks first and so on. At the end they do something funky.....like the person with #1 and the person with the last number get to pick any gift they want that already been taken taken??? They get to swap their gift for any gift that has been already opened......Something like that.

Yeah, the bath towels were nice....still use them. But I think I would have preferred something else.
How about a freakin gift cert. to a restaurant or Dunkin Donuts at least.

Oh yeah, I got $25 in scratch tickets one year...not even a $1 winner.

My dad does these and his presents have ranged from old scratched sunglasses my sister had given him years before(guess who got them back?), broken phones after he bought new ones, and old crappy cd's he doesn't like from his collection. One year he gave away numerous presents that people at the party had given him in previous years.
This year i wrapped up the birthday present her gave me this year ( i already had the exact thing) and put it in the swap. I should have put the used one in the swap and kept the new one lol.
