Gronk..MCL and ACL tears?

Just read that MRI showed MCL as well as ACL torn in Gronk's knee. That is bad news. All these injuries add up. You never completely recover , you just get functional again. Functional for a star tight end is pretty high performance so the reality is he may never play again. I wish him luck in recovering. It may take a miracle to get him back on the field.

i've never torn my ACL but have occasional trouble
going up stairs ....never knowing when the phenomenon
will occur is the worst part... not having that dependable appendage
then the very next day i can fly up them....very strange...
but my point is....
there comes a time when you say enough is enough
...i want to be able to at least walk... maybe time for change

I guess we'll be looking at tight ends in the draft next year.

Unbelievable... not what we wanted to hear! Probably never see him in a Patriots uniform again. Just a shame.

I think he'll be back, but because of his size and style of playing, he'll never be 100% again.

I sure hope you're right Bob, I love the guy. It seemed like the team just started clicking when he returned. He seems to be a huge presence in the locker room. He's an exceptional athlete, and has incredible skill and dexterity for a guy his size. He will probably lose some of that even if he does return, its a pretty devastating injury. I had this exact injury in H.S playing football, and my knee has never been the same.

You never know... I think that was the same injury Welker sustained and he seems just fine. He was also ready to go for the start of next season.

I would think every case is different though.

Welker is a much smaller guy and had not been out the whole year before trying to recover from a bad back and broken arm. All the injuries add up and my guess is each time an athlete sits out part of a season for several months of recovery his body loses some of that athletic "gift" they are born with. Even with a good recovery he'll lose a step of speed and won't be nearly as agile for cuts , accelerations and decelerations.

I wish him luck. He is a great guy to have on our side when he's healthy!

Oh , I also think the DB's and Safeties are using the no high hit rules to hide behind what is now routine "spearing" of runners and receivers legs. They can deny it all they want and blame the NFL but I think they are intentionally trying to hurt people.

Gronk will be back. His recovery over last summer took longer than necessary...mainly because he failed to do what was required and got a secondary infection that prevented him from surgery on the projected schedule.

While Wes played the following year he was two years before he said his knee felt reasonably close to normal. He also followed the rehab regimen to the tee. He did more than what was required to make sure that the surgery had the right effect. I'm not sure Gronk goes as far as Wes does but I do know he has the drive and capability to see it through and come back to the game.

The question is...will Belicheck wait that long or will he trade away?
