Pressure washer ?

Anybody out there have or a pressure washer? Looking to buy one to wash the deck and vinyl siding. And of course it will always come in handy to wash the boat. I was thinking of the +/- $100 electric ones. Or should I go with a gas powered model ? Does the PSI matter all that much?

Pressure Washers

I do have an electric. It is 1100 psi. it does a nice job, but if I were to do it over again, I would go gas powered. Gas powered have more psi, and a lot more mobile. IMHO..

I have the Husky from Home cheapo and it does what I need. It cleans my concrete pool deck, cars, boat, I think the electric will serve you just fine. just don't leave it outside all winter it freezes

Electric power washers in $100 range are cheap plastic things that generally run in the 1200-1400 psi range which really limits what you can do with it.It'll wash the car but won't do much for the deck.

PSI matters as does the type of tip.Pressure washers vary widely in PSI and price. They can go from 1200psi to over 4000psi.A good general purpose washer would be in the 2000-2700psi using the15 degree tip. Most washers come with a set of tips and each has its purpose.

Electrics generally just don't produce enough pressure to be all around useful. The ones that do can be expensive.A good gas washer in the 2000psi range can be had for between $200-$300.You really got to shop around to find a good deal.A good place to start to get an idea is Northerntool.com or take a stroll through the local Home Cheapo or Lowes.

I much prefer the gas over the elec - had both. One GREAT reason is that the gas one, being bigger, spends it time on the ground yet the lighter electric ones you have a lot of mobility that you start to put it on the boat, garbage cans, anywhere of height you can place it. So WHEN and not IF it falls - they break easily

Two years ago I bought one from Home Depot. It had a Honda motor and all was great until my brother in law left it running and burnt out the pump. Two hundred dollars later it has an updated run dry type, lubricated pump.

It worked flawlessly for me for over two years. I bought it to wash my boat, my truck and to strip the paint off my mothers house. They work great when you don't lone them out!!!!

Thanks for all the advice. I think I will go with gas. Browsing the Lowes site. Now if the weather would just improve so I can get some work done before the fish arrive.
