it use to be nice, afternoon dip then go eat some viddles and hit a few spots and pull out a few 15 to 20lb bass then go to the *****
sunny out no one around .
dunk the bucket of death and slide em in.
not a sole around.
then one of the best days I have had.
all 20lb to 40 lb bass by my self.
one after another then I fractured the right side bearing on my squidder and it fell out into the drink. out of 50 herring I had I would say half left.
I could only cast 10 feet and the bass would come up and inhale the little frantic stinking rat bastage the reel made a scraping sound kind of like a train wreck with a scraping Your finger on the chalk board. I never seen a 46" bass shoot over a rock towards shore and do a ubangy.
40lb pink ande that day with about 3 blood knots.
I landed that slob and let it go, it was bigger than the bass alittle over 30 I had.
sweating my arse off I put another Heathen on and a 10 foot cast and the thing was mental with fear, My heart pounded Like flapTail in My plugs.
bang on again the spool on the reel was being thumbed so i could keep it to a consistant grind on the frame or was trying to.
huge boil the little sob was mental with fear and I had the evil death grin but was tired
fish bolted and went into the rocks so on went the clicker and gave her line.
nope couldnt get it from around the rock so I flipped a bass around 45" over the rock after I freyed the line.
I pig pumped it inwith a snap motion to take the pressure off a warped aluminium spool.
got her in and Yanked the 94150 off Her and dumped her back in the drink.
ripping the mono off got to cleen line snelled hook on, out goes the herring did a mercy run right in front of Me and for that it got Hit 3 feet away from Me. That Herring deserved to go to sleep.
I got so many fish and My hands was junk all cut up.
I said thank god this is over and drove to where the crew was I absolutly slaughterd the fish that week topping out with a 52" Bass.
so the Boys asked how I did I said I was just coming out for bait any around??
naaaaaaaaa nothing.
Did this to Whine bag for 7 years, Nice friend Huh
went to the heathen hole and loaded up.
I made sure I had My spare rod and a squidder in the glove and to this day there is always a spare reel in the glove.
Herring Runs = small fish
***** = bertha
and it took me a very long time to learn what Tide they eat on and the route to do.
The Biggun came was blowing through herring on bass and wouldnt keep anything under 40 witch was good cause it went up 5 lbs.
I casted that little filty critter to its death
up current and made the sob swim to the lee side of the chosen rock where the river runs through it.
The run went like this. thud whirl stop.
the bass took the heathen and went back to the eddy side of the rock.
I set the hook on that thing and I could hear creaking in my rod it did a run straight out was down half a spool as it was a long cast with 40 mono on that squidder was on the last blood knot to virgin 30 mono .
the fight was pissa Huge tail slappings way out.
I fought the crap out of that bass.
it was like fighting a fish in a mine field.
around a rock and drop the rod and give only to put the boots to it.
It started getting closer and closer with a few boils and eruptions. the dorsel was huge along with the tail.
not bad for the 1st cast to the chosen one.
I emptied the tank that day.
By My self, it was great , no stop to see the boys that night about 7 hours later.......
If I was smart I would of weighed that fish right then and there But back then who gave a crap
never leave Big Bass............
they make Me mental them things........
I love June herring during sun up in grady and eels at night
God Help Me

at the time i was working in falmouth.
we went out mike and ken and Tim, rest His soul
well i was tossing eels out on the bar taking waves and Tim was yelling and raggin on me along with a few chuckles cept from ken cause ken told Me along time ago I always got large.
well thats what he said. so I got this poor sob with me from work
now mind You the week B4 I took Him out and I left him at the end of a trough. right where the wat juts back out hole ect and I headed down to the other end /hole working my way down.
there was a guy dead sticking and I naild a 30 lb bass
thud tossed it up over the berm ya know 2' drop.
a few casts later same thing only this one was a 40 lb bass up it goes. this guy didnt even know I was there untill the 3rd bass another low 30 lb bass.
so He yells at Me Im stealing all His fish
any way end of bar went dry so I walk back to Steve and ask How Ya doing ?
He said nothing. didnt see the pig I had behind Me I dragged the 40 back .
His eyes Bugged out and I said I will be right back got a few more over there so i drove and got them.
he is now scratchin His head.
see He moved here from PA and aint never got a Bass B4 so i was trying to get Him on.
He would have a run drop it set not right You know the usual learning cure to the art of slinging snakes.
So any way Back to the original thought ,,,,,,
Next week We was out on the Bar and as I said above some friendly nut busting going on.
30 min later I yell out #^&#^&#^&#^&
He goes what.
I set the hook and im on.
I wanted Him to hook up.
well another 40 + pound Bass so I come up and Tim goes nice fish and Ken was happy. I think You know ken Karl he works at the stop n flop at X 12
He snaps a picture and told Me see I knew
so steve is on when I get down there and He landed a nice fish
His 1st keeper mid 20 lbs.
The look on His face was worth it, cant describe it.
I have to take a pic its in the album and theres a ton of bigguns in there But it was a good night all and all.
I always was getting wet waiding out to the Bars.
I will tell of Mike and I of the Mental fishing, this one is classic.

I know Ken from the store, drives the old grey dodge.
Tiki torch man. Good read Dave.. Tim? The young guy who used to camp near Ken? He was a painter, I think.
Was a shame... too young to leave.
