I think most people are hoping to be informed, rather than entertained.
The pressers are getting closer to the Three Stooges all the time.

I’m entertained by the White House I cant believe he said it reality TV show. I really am having a hard time picking my favorite episode. Rake the forest was ok, water bomb the 800 year old cathedral was of course classic and who could forget the nuke a hurricane or the sharpie redraw episode. This new show inject yourself with disinfectants might go down as a favorite. Every time I think I’ve heard it all I just need to tune into the White House I can’t believe he said it show, if you haven’t seen it and need a laugh, I highly recommend it.

As the virus spread from China across the United States between January and early March, large-scale testing of people who might have been infected did not happen. Because of technical flaws, regulatory hurdles, business-as-usual bureaucracies and lack of leadership at multiple levels.

The result was a lost month, when the world’s richest country with the highly trained scientists and infectious disease specialists, missed its best chance of containing the virus’s spread.

In that month Trump* claimed

February 7th
He is strong, sharp and powerfully focused on leading the counterattack on the coronavirus. He feels they are doing very well, even building hospitals in a matter of only days. Nothing is easy, but he will be successful, especially as the weather starts to warm & the virus hopefully becomes weaker, and then gone. Great discipline is taking place in China, as President Xi strongly leads what will be a very successful operation. We are working closely with China to help!

February 10th
Well, I think China is very, you know, professionally run, in the sense that they have everything under control. I really believe they are going to have it under control fairly soon.

February 14th
I spoke with President Xi of China, and he’s working very hard on this. It’s a tremendous problem. But they’re very capable and they’ll—they’ll get to it. There’s a theory that, in April, when it gets warm—historically, that has been able to kill the virus. So we don’t know yet; we’re not sure yet. But that’s around the corner, so that’ll be a great thing in China and other places.

February 18th
I think President Xi is working very hard. As you know, I spoke with him recently. He’s working really hard. It’s a tough problem. I think he’s going to do—look, I’ve seen them build hospitals in a short period of time. I really believe he wants to get that done, and he wants to get it done fast. Yes, I think he’s doing it very professionally. We’re also working with him and helping him, as of the last few days, as you know.

February 23rd
No, I think President Xi is working very, very hard. I spoke to him. He’s working very hard. I think he’s doing a very good job. It’s a big problem. But President Xi loves his country. He’s working very hard to solve the problem and he will solve the problem. Okay?

February 25th
I spoke with President Xi. We had a great talk. He’s working very hard, I have to say. He’s working very, very hard. And if you can count on the reports coming out of China, that spread has gone down quite a bit. The infection seems to have gone down over the last two days. As opposed to getting larger, it’s actually gotten smaller. In one instance where we think we can be—it’s somewhat reliable, it seems to have gotten quite a bit smaller.

March 3rd
Well, we’re looking at different areas, and we’ll make that decision with these professionals. We made an early decision based on a little bit of luck, I suspect, but that was the original decision on China itself. And China, in all fairness to them, they never blamed us. It was, you know, a tough decision for them, but they fully understood. They were very reasonable about it.

March 4th
We’re dealing with China. President Xi, who I speak with, President Xi is working very, very hard in China. They have a big problem. But their numbers have gotten much better with respect to the coronavirus, very much better.

March 6th
And I’ve heard the numbers are getting much better in China, but I hear the numbers are getting much better in Italy, et cetera, et cetera. But what I hear—so we have 240 cases, 11 deaths. Everything is too much and it’s true. I don’t want 11 deaths. I don’t want any deaths, right? But over the last long period of time, when people have the flu, you have an average of 36,000 people dying. I’ve never heard those numbers. I would—I would’ve been shocked. I would’ve said, “Does anybody die from the flu?” I didn’t know people died from the flu—36,000 people died.

He repeated Chinese propaganda from the beginning till mid March, ignored our resources that were trying to tell him what was going on and failed to lead. He listened to his "points to empty head".

Today we are approaching 60 thousand dead.

Spin that.

Yesterday there were 32,796 new confirmed cases and this week the total number of cases will reach 1 million.

Reportedly hundreds already have called their primary care asking if doing just that is safe and effective, apparently they, the news media, even Dr. Brix who couldn’t believe what she was hearing all mistook the incredibly helpful “sarcastic” question wrong. It was just one of countless dumb remarks that prove he needs to follow the yellow brick road and ask the wizard of Oz for a brain. I didn't miss anything. Your bullet points are not a revelation. You and the media have given us a repetition of timelines aplenty. I posted the video merely as a response to your video. Personally, I didn't see much of a reaction by Birx in the video you posted. Maybe it's there and I don't want to see it. If it is there, it certainly isn't very pronounced. But I think your point was that she was dismayed, or disgusted, or annoyed, or something negative toward Trump's comments. The video I posted didn't back that notion up at all, but even seemed complimentary to Trump.

And there are other timelines that don't blame Trump. And more than one thing was said by Trump on those particular days and on other days. Other politicians and medical experts have timelines of saying things that are supportive of Trump and/or are similar to various things Trump said. It's a trick to pick various statements Trump made on various days, all of which are Trump negative, but disregard all other things Trump has said and done.

In particular, Trump saying supportive things about adversaries with whom he is negotiating is very common, and are often inconsistent, and I have always taken them with a grain of salt. His actions speak much louder than the sometimes strange way he speaks. I like a lot of what he has done. I understand that you need to spin his words and create or paste timelines in a certain way. Knock yourself out.

So you believe he continually says and does something else that produced no results even though his tweets and statements are pretty clear and you don't produce any contradictory information.

You claim there is another timeline somewhere out there, sounds like a fraudulent claim to me or at best a trick to support Trump*.

You can't believe what he says because it might mean something else.

Remember there are several different explanations floated by the administration regarding the light and disinfectant debacle.

Dr. Birx claimed he was thinking out loud and riffing.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany "President Trump has repeatedly said that Americans should consult with medical doctors regarding coronavirus treatment, a point that he emphasized again during yesterday's briefing," she said. "Leave it to the media to irresponsibly take President Trump out of context and run with negative headlines,"

"I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

The funniest thing about the "I was just being sarcastic" defense is it comes after almost a full day of his supporters and Press Secretary claiming no, he actually never said to inject yourself with disinfectant and the media is totally taking him out of context.

Someone is certainly fake there and it doesn't look like the media is the one.

Over 54,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, and somehow Donald Trump* is the victim.

I don't really grasp what you're trying to say here. And I have produced contradictory information in other posts. But you say you don't read them.

I have posted a couple of other timelines but you say you don't read my posts.

You can't believe what he says because it might mean something else.

I didn't say that. I have said in other posts what I believe about his saying nice stuff about adversaries, but you say you don't read my posts.

Yeah there are explanations that differ from your implications.

I don't consider his remarks about disinfectants or sunlight to be important enough to make a continued fuss about. Dr Birx said she was bothered by the continued fuss that was drowning out more important information about what progress was being made, or something to that effect. I could perfectly understand Trump being sarcastic enough to say he was being sarcastic just to get off the subject and on to more important things.

Over 54,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, and somehow Donald Trump* is the victim.
He is not THE victim of COVID-19. He is A victim of biased media coverage. But that is to be expected.

From an article by Tom Tillison in the April 26 in BPR Busines and Politics:

Democrats and their elitist media enablers continue to push the dishonest narrative that President Trump was advocating for people to ingest a cleaning and disinfecting product like Lysol to counter the coronavirus.

Twisting his words to the point of ridiculousness, the narrative was widely picked up by media outlets in the quest to paint the president as a bumbling idiot — which is an ongoing campaign that began before Trump ever took office.

The maneuver is so over the top that White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx called the media out for it during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

After playing a deceptively edited clip of the president’s remarks, anchor Jake Tapper asked what can easily be seen as an ignorant question: “What should the American people know about disinfectants in the human body?”

“That was a dialogue he was having between the Department of Homeland Security scientists and himself for information that he had received and he was discussing,” she explained to Tapper.

“We have made it clear, and when he turned to me, I made it clear and he understood that it was not as a treatment. And I think that kind of dialogue will happen,” Dr. Birx said. “I think what got lost in there, which is very unfortunate in what happened next, is that study was critically important for the American people.”

The study she is referring to is the impact sunlight has on the coronavirus, as well as heat and humidity — Trump was talking about powerful ultraviolet light being used as a possible deterrent to the virus, referring to it as a “disinfectant.”

With the November election fast approaching, Tapper was determined to score points against the president and continued to misrepresent his meaning.

“[Trump] was talking about ways to take that science and somehow turn it into injecting UV light or disinfectants into the human body which, as you know, especially with disinfectants, can be lethal,” Tapper said. “And the CDC had to issue a statement, Lysol had to issue a statement.”

Pressing on the matter he tried his best to drive a wedge between Birx and Trump.

“I understand that you’re taking a generous approach to this when it comes to President Trump musing aloud, but this is potentially dangerous,” Tapper continued. “Poison control centers got calls from people and they had to issue statements saying do not internally use disinfectants. As a doctor, doesn’t that bother you that you have to spend any time discussing this?”

“Well, I think it bothers me that this is still in the news cycle,” Birx said. “Because I think we’re missing the bigger pieces of what we need to be doing as an American people to continue to protect one another, and we should be having that dialogue…”

As usual you miss the point many try to make. If Trump wanted that question answered, he should have done that behind closed doors and then he doesn't look like a tool and idiot for asking it on national TV. Then the idiots that follow this guy like he knows what he is talking about medically don’t start drinking the crap or calling their primary care doctors wasting their time to ask if it’s a good remedy. You at times appear to be a smart guy, other times it’s just flag waving nonsense.

Only Trump supporters actually think the above statement is what everyone else except them is really thinking. ..

So Trumps supporters have no issues with his inability convey a simple message with out looking like a fool ... see his other stellar statements for more examples

I didn't miss that "point." I presented other points. Including Dr. Birx's.

I agree that he should keep a tighter lip, especially in talking about things that don't really matter. And especially because of the way he phrases his words. He knows how the press will frame any thing he says that is even a little bit "off." I would rather that he would quietly go about his business and keep doing good stuff, and quit feeding the oppo Press with fake fodder. That may never happen. So I make the responding points.

And, as I have said, claiming that dummies will do stupid stuff because of how they hear Trump is a red herring. The oppo Press has claimed all kinds of consequences, like riots, Alt-Right terrorism, gun violence, bullying, racism, rise of anti-Semitism, attacks on homosexuals, ingesting poison, to Trump's words which did not call for any of those things. So, therefore, Trump must be gagged because any thing he says might somehow "spark" devastating consequences. But that would be near impossible since the twisting of his words is intentional, and will continue no matter what he says.

And no, not waving a flag. Just trying to point out the truth as I see it. I'm sure you're doing the same.

Trump will no longer hold daily coronavirus propaganda briefings. A gigantic win for all Americans, and for all of humanity.
I give him 4 days before he does another, unless he can go play golf.

Trump* a few weeks ago said he now expects "around 60,000, maybe 65,000" American deaths from the coronavirus. He indicates he'll proclaim any total under 100,000 as a reflection of what a great job his government did.

“A lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat—as the heat comes in.”

Just what rattles around in his empty head?

Bitchslappedboy, when you tried to instill fear by spreading the modeling predictions that indicate 100,000 to 250,000 deaths it did not work. Keep ringing the bell while quick decisions save more lives.

Just resort to name calling because the truth upsets your narrative and unfortunately we are on our way to those numbers.

You must have really good eye sight, because this is far from over and this country is still in catch up mode. Testing and tracing are still far behind. No surprise your parroting the optimism Trump wants to spread in order to get the economy going. But hey you thought the hundreds of callers asking if shallowing or injecting themselves with Clorox or other disinfectants were liberal plants. It’s hard for anyone to take you seriously, I suspect the light you see is glare from the foil hat you where. On a side note, my boys report multiple EMS calls and ER trips for people with severe gastrointestinal burns after drinking the wrong stuff, that’s Boston and here on the south shore. Proving again, some people are very easily pushed in the wrong direction when they are scared and most importantly the words of the president matter. Keep the idiot away from the podium.

The FDA had to issue a warning to NOT take hydroxychloriquin and after Trumps idiotic briefing, the White House had to issue a warning for Americans to NOT consider drinking or injecting themselves with disinfectants. Two markers for where we are and when the second wave comes I wonder what miracle cure Trump might throw in the air.

It's far from over, but most in the medical community believe we're going to fare much better than original models forecasted. There's basically a consensus on that.

"the White House had to issue a warning for Americans to NOT consider drinking or injecting themselves with disinfectants."

Because of the way that your side spun what he actually said.

Do you see a meaningful difference, between asking if something could ever be possible. and suggesting that people do it today?

It would have been better had Trump asked that in private. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with asking if something is possible, but he should have known how dishonestly your side would spin it.

And if asking if light or disinfectants could ever be a help here is so stupid to ask, why are scientists doing trials to see if disinfectants (chlorine in this case) and UV light can help? Scientists are currently exploring the same avenues that he asked about.

Our “side” heard the question on national TV and reasonable people understand that it should have never been asked, Trump meandering medical questions belong in private. Spin isn’t why the scared, or mentality ill or people just overwhelmed might drink that crap. The spin and the reporting on our “side” suggest at every turn how wrong and how dangerous that would be. The warnings were issued because they realized it was stupid and it might result in serious injury or death if followed. I get that you guys want to defend him even if he shoots someone on 5th ave, but wrong and stupid are just wrong and stupid.

To make it clear to all what a smuck he is, he claimed he was being sarcastic. So let’s for a second consider that might be true, which we all know is false, the president in a national crisis with Americans dying and suffering for months, feels sarcasm is appropriate. That walk back attempt is Trump being the low life he is.

Spun, really or was he being sarcastic?

Frasier: Niles, I’ve just had the most marvelous idea for a website! People will post their opinions, cheeky bon mots, and insights, and others will reply in kind!

Niles: You have met “people”, haven’t you?
