send it to shimano, fill out their online form, check all the boxes so they go thru it, they go thru the whole thing for like $25, rarely charge for new parts

Check their pdf on their service site to make sure they still support your reel or your sending in, only to have it returned. I took Sea Dangles advice and sent mine to Ricks Reel Service in FL, as 3 out of the 4 I was sending in are no longer supported. Good support, good communication and they don't bill you until you are satisfied with the repairs; I'd definitely use them again next fall.

Send it to Shimano is good advice. My Stella came back with new pinion and main gears, etc for $30. Same service with daiwa cost me hundreds.

I sent numerous sustains to Shimano for repair and have always been pleased with their service. As has been mentioned they frequently don't charge for some of the parts they replaced
