Horror Movies

Best Time of the Year, Halloween means horror movies...

Anybody watching anything good...or bad, for Horror Flicks

Fired up a couple of Classics w/ the kids......"Dracula" and "The Mummy"...the old B&W versions with Lugosi and Karloff. Trying to get them to appreciate the Classics

We also checked out the remake of The Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro....great Wolfman effects....the Scene in the Sanitarium Auditorium is Awesome....

We also checked out the Final Installment in the Saw series "Saw 3D" ....dissapointing to say the least.....was supposed to wrap everything up, but just ended up being open ended like the other 6.

The 1st Saw movie is excellent, if you haven't seen it, check it out.

I give the remake of the Friday the 13th, not too shabby.. Of course, it will never be like the originals, but it wasn't too bad.

60 % of the time, it works every time.

The Blob (original)
The Thing
Creature from the Black Lagoon

then there are the artsy, campy horror films that are just funny or far-fetched....

The Killer Shrews
Attack of the Giant Leeches
Manster

and for those that can't get enough of zombie-nazis,
Shockwave

There are way too many creature features to list all of them, and I'm sure that we all have our personal favorites.

How about old series like "The Outer Limits", One Step Beyond", Twilight Zone" and "Night Gallery"? Surely these merit some considerations?

Absolutely....I have all the original Outer Limits episodes....one of the best Sci-Fi series ever....effects were cheesy but the story lines were awesome.

Night Gallery was another of my favorites

I agree, that's why they merit mentioning.
Some of the stories from all series weren't just to frighten you, but also to make you think.
When they remade "The Outer Limits", they also remade a number of the old episodes....with a twist. I have most of those as well.

Nothing beats simple fright with a dash of social awareness!!

Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead are all pretty good flicks. The movie that I saw when I was younger that scared the crap out of me was The Evil Dead. I watch it now and laugh, but back then it was pretty scary.

I'm curious to see how the remake of The Thing is. The original was incredible... I think my old man forced me to watch it when I was about five (sick bastard) and the walking-head-spider-thing traumatized me. I didn't realize what movie it was from until I was a teenager and saw it again.

Also, in the vein of Zombie flicks, The Walking Dead starts up again this Sunday.

Campy horror favorite: Horror High (teenage Jekyl and Hyde plot with a hint of revenge)

Shockwaves: How can you go wrong with zombie-nazis?

Dawn of the Dead: Made me think of shopping malls in a completely different way

Scanners: seeing someone's head explode, need I say more?

The Blob (original): There's always room for jello!

Night of the Gargoyles: Although is was a made-for-tv movie, the costumes were pretty decent for a 70's horror movie.

First Spaceship on Venus: OK, so this movie is a joke, but a MST2000 worthy flick.

THEM: Giant ants, that says it all!

Attack of the Giant Leeches: Stupid film with equally comical dialog.
(picture a scene with locals scouring the swamps looking for latest victms. Picture a town with PLENTY of motor vehicles but not one flashlight, so they search at night with torches?????)

Too many more to list here.

Love the old 50's Nuclear Paranoia camp flicks...

Attack of the 50 Foot Woman - I mean ITS a 50 Foot Woman....doesn't get any better than that

Attack of the Killer Shrews - Dogs w/ mops glued to them.....classic

The Amazing Colossal Man - and the much anticipated sequel War of the Colossal Beast

and the Big Bug flicks..

Tarantula - Pretty self Explanatory

The Deadly Mantis - Its amazing how a 200 foot tall bug can't be found

The Beginning o fthe End - I mean Giant Grasshoppers oooohh the horror.

We are The Creature Double Feature Generation

No chit? Somehow I bet the Carpenter version is better... But I'll have to check it out. I guess the new The Thing is a prequel to the Carpenter remake, takes place in the Norwegian camp.

Another great Nazi Zombie movie is Dead Snow.

The original is a SciFi Classic......and I love the old Classics

Carpenter's was Amazing for the Special Effects....blew me away the 1st time I saw it...

Mama

I'll have to admit, I was freaked out a few different times during this movie. Usually I get let down watching most horror movies. This one I liked. Some pretty cool cinematography as well.
