I figure since I have to redo the box I'll also add a Pink Bomber if I can find one. Even though I predict she'll never use them She can never use the excuse she doesn't have the right lures to go striper fishing with us.

Heres the progress on the new Box. Now I have to go get a piece of glass so I can glue the Frame together. Chris The Pink Pikie will go where your yellow one is

Gary Plugs Are Killa or Pissa as you East coaster would say. Even though it's going to be a painful moment tossing G2's nice plugs
into the surf I'm looking forward to catching a West Coast Striper
on them next season Hopefully a Long Island Striper as well.

I'm still waiting for a dry spell to paint. Not sure how much rain your getting in Sacramento but it hasn't stopped here. I need a couple of calm days to paint and finish and it will be done. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday we get a weather break.
The shed has its limits as a shop. Rain being the one that stops me from wood turning and painting. I'm getting ichy and need a sawdust making day.

Chris
No worry's me and The Goddess usually exchange our Christmas gifts closer to Feburary because her birthday is on Dec 31st and
She's always out of town at the end of the Year. I'd rather wait and use your pink pikie because You're a West Coatser and She's met
you.

Thanks
Joe

My pink just isn't as hot as the other plugs. Next order from Dixe art I'll have to get some Flamengo to match the others better. Hope she like it.

Actually Freak, I don't use that atypical wood that others use. I am using old growth redwood. Why Because Redwood is very bouyant and light. No the grain is not tight and no matter what you do it will show through. But what you look at in a purty lure is not what a fish will even worry about. Instead I get a plug that swims ten times better than an AYC plug. I can build them bigger and with less full body weight to keep them swimming and swerving better. Which means more action, which means more fish!
To me how well a plug swims is more important than how clean it is. Knowing your a car guy, I understand your feeling about grain or Orange peel.

Didn't take it as a dig Fishingfreak. I was just explaining why the grain shows more tan on an AYC plug. If you get your chance to try some Eastern red cedar you get the same effects. Light bouyant plug with grain that shows. With redwood my one fear is the red organic material that makes redwood red. (I think its something like tunic acid or something close) can bleed. I used the wood last year with no problems of it staining red streaks. But you never know. If it does happen then I will be on a hunt for another type of wood that I can get here. Western red cedar is also very bouyant and grainy but it also has problems giving a smooth finish sand. You get lots of checks and nooks with it.
Anyway the redwood works well, if you ever would like to play with a few pieces I can send you some.
