vintage rod

i was given this rod by a frend i am not sure if it is custom or a factory blank i wanted to see if anybody could identify it. at the bottom of the blank where the rod specs are it reads made in the USA with a big red stamp that is faded away the numbers are faded away. the rest of the rod is black with red wraps its 9ft

'rats - it could be an old harnell being a black blank and red wraps. it's really hard to say looking at the pictures though. harnell's usually have a signature and design unqiue to them. harnell's were also fairly heavy. they usually have yellowish/orange underlays a red overwraps on the guides. guides were usually stainless.
