The fat lady is singing, 2009 is all done!!! - 2009/10/24 16:22
Hi All, well the fat lady has sung her last song, The 2009 Striped Bass & Bluefish have moved off and headed south to their wintering grounds until they return in May of 2010!!!

A little reveiw on the year is a very disappointing one, It was a tough season this year, Most of it having to do with the weather as it seams we are into the 30th freakin weekend of rain & wind. Just unreal crappy weather this year, and it affected the fishing tremendously. Hopefully next season will bring the fish and good weather back with a vengence.

There were alot of frustrating days out on the water this year with some days of total lock jaw when the fish just would not eat, to days when they just were not here. Some of it definately had to do with Pogie seining boats removing alot of the pogies in the harbor. Also this is about the 3rd year in a row that we had a huge lack of small bass around and again another year with hardly any bluefish picking up the slack when the bass get finicky in the hot summer. Although I think we only had 2 weeks of temperatures higher than 70 degrees which will keep water on the cool side hence no bluefish to come in and play.

The shining light on the season was the Blue Fin Tuna bite. Totally awesome year of some big tuna being caught this year. We had a few shots at them and a few long fights with tuna up to 300 lbs only to have the fish spit the hook 10 ft from the boat!!! But thats tuna fishing.LOL

We still have the boat in the water and are gonna try and get a few more play days in before next weekend when she comes out of the water for the season.

We had a great day cod fishing on Stellwagon Bank last week and hammered the cod, we got our limit of 30 keeper fish, caught well over 70 Cod, a few dog fish, Some horse mackerel and a small hake.

We also had a small whale swimming around us for about a half hour only a few feet from the boat, and we were down to t-shirts by 10 am. Life just does not get much better than that, so if we do not get offshore any more this week, it was a hell of a trip and one for the memory books as we had fish on our lines every few seconds.

Bill and I woould like to thank all of you who have made this another successful charter season for us. We totally enjoyed having you all on board and hope you all have a wonderful holiday season with your families. We hope you enjoyed your trips with us and hopefully we will get you out there again next season.

I will post a few more picturesin the photo section that we took the other day from our last few bass pictures to the cod fishing banner day.

Again thank you all so much, and Tight Lines to you all!!!

See you in May of 2010
