untrue plug stick

I'm thinkin ahead to the next rod. This will be for plugs, light bait 2oz +bait and maybe eels, basically a rod that will do every thing. The blank I'm lookin' at is a St. Croix 10' 2pc (it has to be 2pc.) its rated 3/4-4. I know that 10' is long for plugs but it will be doing more light bait than plugs, also I have felt this rod finished and found it very light. I think I woud be able to plug for a while with it. Normally I plug for an hour or two with one bait in, then go double bait. Basically I'm looking for a rod that can do just about anything, granted I wont be throwing 4oz and a head on this rod.
So very light bait, good size plugs, maybe an eel can this blank handle it?

P.S I'm in CT but may be on the cape for a little while. will also be in NH for a while, and maye spend some time in NJ,RI, maybe even montauk so basically everywhere is my location.

I figure I'll have the length when I need it.
Thanx guys

For a 2-piece rod to do what you want I would reccomend an Allstar 1145-2 it is 9' 6" long and can habdle all that you would need.

The Breakaway 9'6" rod is commercially available and is made with the above mentioned blank.

I would call Mike at Cape Cod Tackle, a link to his site is on this site as he is a sponsor.

I would have to cast another vote for the Allstar 1145-2 pc. I have it in a custom conventional and its a super all around rod IMHO. Solid 1-3 rod, but it could do 4 oz if you had it. Retail on the blank is ~$120.

I made a convention St Croix 10' - 2 pc ( old style Ben Doerr) last spring and the rod will definitely not like 4 oz. Its a more moderate flex than the Allstars. I use it w/ Bombers (7/8 oz) and metals in the 2 oz range. I wouldn't go 4 oz w/ it. The newer style SC blanks are a lot different than the old ones. I haven't met any one whose made made a custom out of these new style blanks.

Take a look at the All Star 1206. Great 2pc 2-4oz rod.

dude, you will love that set up! if it's the premier surf, i have that exact set up. it will definitely not do 4 oz. accept iffen ur doing the 2 oz. and bait thing. i can throw the small tatoo swimming plugs like 35 to 4 yards with it, and nearly 100 when just throwing metal (alright, it was 2 ounces of lead ) i like 20 lb. power pro for it on top of 12 or 15 lb. ande. even a tatoo darter will push this rod and it ways what, 3 ounces?

fishing is not a love, but an obsession

I have the avid surf st croix 10' 2 peice. It is a very nice plugging rod, it is rated to 4oz, but I would say it maxes out at 3 1/2 and it loads at like 2 3/4. VERY LIGHT
