IF ---

* If you're a minority and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "token hire."
* If you're a conservative and you're selected for a job over more qualified candidates you're a "game changer."

* Black teen pregnancies? A "crisis" in black America .
* White teen pregnancies? A "blessed event."

* If you grow up in Hawaii you're "exotic."
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, you're the quintessential "American story."

* Similarly, if you name you kid Barack you're "unpatriotic."
* Name your kid Track, you're "colorful."

* If you're a Democrat and you make a VP pick without fully vetting the individual you're "reckless."
* A Republican who doesn't fully vet is a "maverick."

* If you spend 3 years as a community organizer growing your organization from a staff of 1 to 13 and your budget from $70,000 to $400,000, then become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new African Amerian voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law
professor, then spend nearly 8 more years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, becoming chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, then spend nearly 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of nearly 13 million people, sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you are woefully inexperienced.

* If you spend 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, then spend 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you've got the most executive experience of anyone on either ticket, are the Commander in Chief of the Alaska military and are well qualified to lead the nation should you be called upon to do so because your state is the closest state to Russia.

* If you are a Democratic male candidate who is popular with millions of people you are an "arrogant celebrity."
* If you are a popular Republican female candidate you are "energizing the base."

* If you are a younger male candidate who thinks for himself and makes his own decisions you are "presumptuous."
* If you are an older male candidate who makes last minute decisions you refuse to explain, you are a "shoot from the hip" maverick.

* If you are a candidate with a Harvard law degree you are "an elitist-out of touch" with the real America .
* if you are a legacy (dad and granddad were admirals) graduate of Annapolis , with multiple disciplinary infractions you are a hero.

* If you manage a multi-million dollar nationwide campaign, you are an "empty suit."
* If you are a part time mayor of a town of 7000 people, you are an "experienced executive."

* If you go to a south side Chicago church, your beliefs are "extremist."
* If you believe in creationism and don't believe global warming is man made, you are "strongly principled."

* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.
* If you have been married to the same woman with whom you've been wed to for 19 years and raising 2 beautiful daughters with, you're "risky."

* If you're a black single mother of 4 who waits for 22 hours after her water breaks to seek medical attention, you're an irresponsible parent, endangering the life of your unborn child.
* But if you're a white married mother who waits 22 hours, you're spunky.

* If you're a 13-year-old Chelsea Clinton, the right-wing press calls you "First dog."
* If you're a 17-year old pregnant unwed daughter of a Republican, the right-wing press calls you "beautiful" and "courageous."

* If you kill an endangered species, you're an excellent hunter.
* If you have an abortion, you're a murderer (forget about if it happened while being raped.)

* If you teach abstinence only in sex education, you get teen parents.
* If you teach responsible age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

* If you're a Republican senator who solicits gay sex in an airport bathroom, you get to return to your job in the Senate and are encouraged to run for re-election.
* If you're a Democratic Senator who is out of public office and have an affair, your political career is over and your wife who has terminal cancer is to blame.

posted by Likwid last week. And as you may read this as clever, I read this as the total bs spewed by liberals to rationalize the world they live in. Nice try, it aint true and only appeals to the hapless victims that make up the majority of the party. Lets all chuckle at this, have a latte and the talk about how I'm going to write another book when my NEA grant comes through.

Why such venom?

The real irony is that this is EXACTLY the logic used by the GOP to construct their attack rhetoric, with a strong dose of LIE thrown in for spirit.

If you can't find humor in this, I worry for you.

So if your kid gets into Harvard Law and becomes a senator, he's a zero too.

the venom is this condescending crap that has become the hallmark of liberals. Lets see how clever we can be! I disagree Spence that any one entity has generated the logic used to create this. Its clever, but untrue.
Its called rationalization - morphing the truth to accomodate for your circumstances. Its what the entire Obama campaign is based on.

I've never said the Right invented nor has a monopoly on being mean spirited. Rather that they are a heck of a lot better at it.

How you see evil on the left and puppies and flowers on the Right astounds me though.

You don't think Rudy or Palin mocking (like snide third grade girls on the playground) Obama's community service isn't condascending?

We'll go, got to get a handle on whats brewing this fall. I havent had a bass since mid-July. Lets look towards the next few weekends.

TO respond to your post, I truly cannot understand my hatred for the left. I do not disagree with them on all issues. I think they have created an environement where they tell everyone how bad things are just to create a need to themselves.

BTW -
I think Palin on Gibson was pretty lame, cant beleive you guys havent jumped all over that yet. My wife and I had a few beers and watched Obama and McCain on the Service forum. I tried to watch with an open mind, but we were both in awe of how Obama never answers a single question, he goes off on these rambles which arent even connected to the question. It was almost embarrasing to watch.McCain had straight answers to every question.

McCain has straight answers until that reporter in Maine asked him today 3 times about Sarry Palins foreign policy experience. He tried to talk about energy and laying pipe instead...

I agree, he was quizzing and she was semi-answering...
Done with her for a while.
Waiting for a debate or for her to say something (other than name drop who she called in Georgia last week)) to talk about her again.

Done with you too..
You asked me Bidens positions.
I took time out of MY busy day to answer and you never responded

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?

PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words.

Maybe she should reference the fact that old Abe was an atheist.

"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."

...All in all, it was not a bad interview though. I guess this makes me sexist.

I would bet money that Palin was told to answer simple yes or no answers after she was givin a long list of possible questions with the answers yes and no attached to them..

No matter what happens, I hope and and am pretty sure that McCain and Palin will be better than Bush and Cheeny

At least you can admit you don't have all your marbles, this is a good first step.

But the Republicans do just the same using scare tactics so people don't think about the details. They completely pimped the WOT in 2002 and 2004 to win seats in Congress by making you think you were about to die.

Remember #^&#^&#^&#^& Cheney stating directly that a vote for Kerry could induce another terrorist attack?

I watched some clips and I'm quite surprised she didn't have a clue on the Bush Doctrine question. I know her foreign policy is weak but the fight against Islamic terror is the defining issue of our generation according to her campaign.

She also looked very green with her remarks on Georgia and NATO. Just because you were given a talking point doesn't mean you have the credibility to be flippantly talking about World War III

Well actually, Jim. I thought there were some questions that she entertained that she should not have answered. There were some hypothetical propositions in that interview she just should not have committed to, simply because they are hypothetical. Any veteran politician knows that. It was like she crammed for an essay exam; her responses were ambiguous, repetitive and she seemed nervous at times. On the other hand, if there is anything that I walked away, after watching that interview, it clear that Gibson is far more knowledgeable of foreign policy than McCains VP. On the other hand Palin () needs to buy a handbook on critical argumentation.

I was only stating something that I thought would be funny and ironic. It appears I touched on a nerve, Sorry

Not really funny or ironic. Desperate? Yes.

what is actually funny, ironic and desperate is the amount of time that is being spent on the anal exam of a woman who the left proclaimed completely inept, unqualified and unfit to be VP, clearly the worst VP pick in political history, right? If this is true shouldn't this guarantee an Obama victory and wouldn't you just sit back and watch the McCain campaign implode? This is not just a campaign against Palin but an attempt to destroy any political viability that she may have. Sooo, why the big hullabalooo. The Celebutards and Hag Skank Face Lift Queens on the View and in the media are completely off their rockers and the new chorus from the left compares O to Jesus and Palin to PP...gimme a break...Obama is on his heels having to defend his record against the record of the opponents VP...criticizing McCain for being internet illiterate is a great idea till you realize that he can't type because of the beating that he took...Bided sticks both feet in his mouth everytime he opens it....this is really becoming a lot of fun...Hillary presumed...picking out drapes and referring to Bills admin, as the "1ST CLINTON ADMIN." Obama has really presumed and now he's acting like a little girl that had her lollipop taken away. The more they go after Palin, the more they solidify the right base and make her an endearing figure to women in the middle that think Hill was a victim of the same crap. If you believe the mainstream media then this race shouldn't even be close. OBAMA IS THE ONE WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR...isn't he??.but for some reason???..Obama is in trouble, he's never won a competitive race against a Republican, he's tried to keep his base a fever pitch for nearly 20 months and it's fizzling(most of it was hype anyway), his Prius is running out of gas....

this election is simple ...vote for the War Hero and his lovely, bright and talented VP or vote for the Communist and his diahrreah mouth sideick...at least that's how I see it
