Global warming-did ya notice.........

how all the newspaper articles disappeared as the winter grew longer and colder than it has been for years? Even the few times I saw Gore on television he was talking about something else.

I don't think one cold winter shows anything. Not to mention globally, this past summer was significantly above the average temperature.

The reason people can't talk about global warming right now is the general populace (not the intelligent gents in here) are stupid and only think about the now. The average person doesn't remember the reports at the end of the summer discussing how it was globally one of the hottest. They only think, "damn, it's so much colder than last year. Wait, they have ice in Florida. This proves there is no such thing as global warming."

Umm...
Gore was all over the place recently talking about it. Testifying before congress, specifically about global changes to agriculture with increased climate change.

Weather = Local meteorological conditions. I.e. what Tony Petraca reports on

Climate (as defined by the IPCC): Climate in a narrow sense is usually defined as the “average weather”, or more rigorously, as the statistical description in terms of the mean and variability of relevant quantities over a period of time ranging from months to thousands or millions of years. The classical period is 30 years, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). These quantities are most often surface variables such as temperature, precipitation, and wind. Climate in a wider sense is the state, including a statistical description, of the climate system

Don't let one cold or warm day fool you. Then again it is just a liberal conspiracy of a bunch of crunchy scientists..

Additionally, there is way more to it than 'warming'. Better term is climate change

Just heard this morning that the audobon society said they noticed many more species of birds that normally fly south staying up north.

Yup, no Global warming.

Actually, the arguement your suppose to make is that its not man made

Climate change as a news topic has an inverse relationship to bad economic news. I think that's all it is.

Global warming follows a stair-step function. You have a record year followed by several years of decline, then followed by a new record year.

If you look at the data, we're currently in the cool cycle following record temps a few years ago.

Do you spend a lot of time looking at the data?

I think you're right Raven -

The old Portagee down the street seems to concur with him on this one...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Talking

don't remind me.... about dem Portagee's...

way back in the old days, this little short portegee
was upstairs in the mill getting his favorite fricken
pallet that "he"....... Just Had to have...

and he throws it down off the stack onto the floor
upstairs which was a couple of feet over my head down stairs
...which shook all these loose paint chips off the ceiling all at once right~
so
I heard this huge freakin {{{{BOOM }}}}}
along with a deluge of white
....that i lost my concentration for a second...
being so startled........ and it resulted with me getting
my arm caught in the die cutter machine
so bad i thought it had nearly cut it off...

after yanking it out....

i went marching around in agony holding it .
afraid to even look at it....
i had measured the distance beforehand
and thought it had to be mushed...
or crushed... felt bad enough or numb at the time.

Wow - doesn't sound like anybody's idea of a good time, Rav...

I hope someone posted a Short Portagee Warning near the heavy machinery after that -

Most companies struggle with the balance of short term shareholder demands and strategic growth over the long haul. Typically though, those that don't execute on thoughtful strategic plans will ultimately fail.

The human race is no different.

I know it was just a thought I had after going over an article I was reading that gushing on Gore. I guess posting this was out of context so to speak, weather-wise.
