betcha never

Did anything this stupid.
New Years Eve, the boys are out for the night, wife gets home from work, gonna have a nice dinner.
She says "did ya make the bed today", well no. O.k. - I gotta run out to the store why dontcha make the bed - and shake out the comforter and hang it on the line for a while.
O.K. honey.
So, I go up and get it and figure I'll shake out the sheet too, and down the stairs I go.
Plop the sheet on the kitchen table, go out on the deck, shake the comforter out, hang it on the line.
Head back in, there's a blazing inferno on my kitchen table - seems the wife had a candle burning right under the sheet put down spot
It was crankin, tried patting it out - nope.Glass of water - nope. So I grabbed the whole mess REAL FAST, and tossed it out the door.
Whew, close call.
I'm a dope.

woman and candles are not a good mix . my wife like to burn a candle in the kitchen near the stove and the paper towels . Ive told her many times not to and Ive even blown it out everytime I pass it lit . well one evening Im watching the news and my 10yr old daughter yells FIRE . I guess my wife thought she was busting chops again I hear FIRE DADDY FIRE . Im there in a shot and the whole peper towel holder is on fire . take em and toss em in the sink run water to put it out and then comfort my daughter that " you did the right thing honey and very fast too " . good kid ! then the candle went for a long ride out the freakin door . no more candles in my house or someone else will be taking that same long ride out the door .

Something like 85 % of all housefires are started by......CANDLES

Read that somewhere just recently.
