Rod Building Class

Are there any rod building classes in or around RI where I can get supplies and some instruction? I would like to get a blank and components and build it myself. Only interested in building one maybe two rods, so I don't want to invest in a wrapper, finishing motor, etc...

Not aware of anyone doing it on a regular basis. there's a good one happening in NY soon. there's also a store in Plymouth Ma that i think does lessons now and then.

Thanks Saltheart, I saw that post about the class in Lindenhurst. I agree with you that is a great deal, especially with the seafood buffet, but that's a long drive. Time and cost spent commuting would be more than the class itself. Which shop in Plymouth? Seems I may have to look for a local builder to do up this rod for me.

I just took a very good course at Rivers End tackle in Old Saybrook, CT which may be worth the drive if you are from South County. Some guys in Ct drove over an hour to get there. It is 3 nights and was taught by "Q" Kresser who is a good guy. Project was a 7 foot spinning scoolie rod. My first guide wrap sucked so started over again. I am getting the hang of it. Really interesting so you should try it.
