Unbelieveable.....A symbolic gesteure... give me a F@#$##% break....there R people even after reading this and they will believe that when he leaves the white house that he will be treated the same as those that R on Obamacare.

President Barack Obama was signed up for largely symbolic health insurance coverage over the weekend, the White House said Monday. He chose one of the cheapest plans “as a show of support” for the millions of Americans his administration is trying to steer towards the new online exchanges.


All presidents and their immediate families get coverage through the military. As Commander-in-Chief, any president has a personal physician and he and his family get full care at the White House Medical Unit and the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Obama didn’t wait until the last possible minute, a White House official says. Monday’s the last day to enroll on the federal exchange and on most of the state exchanges as well as Washington, D.C.’s, exchange.

“Over the weekend and in advance of today's deadline, the president enrolled in a health care plan made available by the Affordable Care Act on the D.C. marketplace,” the official said.


Obama, who is on vacation in Hawaii, had a staffer do the heavy lifting for him, a White House official says. He had to be enrolled in person, in no small part because his personal information is not readily available in the variety of government databases HealthCare.gov uses to verify identities.

“The act of the president signing up for insurance coverage through the DC exchange is symbolic since the president's health care will continue to be provided by the military,” the official added.

“But he was pleased to participate in a plan as a show of support for these marketplaces which are providing quality, affordable health care options to more than a million people. The president selected a bronze plan.” Bronze plans have the lowest premiums and tend to have higher deductlbles.

Obama doesn’t qualify for a federal subsidy to help pay premiums, both because of his income and because he is already covered.

From time to time, the ruling class must mingle with the commoners to show it cares. That it is not "out of touch" with the masses. That it knows and partakes, even if symbolically, of the sacrifice the middle and lower classes endure, and how its policies will ease that suffering. Symbol (some maliciously call it spin) is its greatest power of communication and persuasion (some, less generously, call it lying).

Of course, the ruling class is constantly busy with the heavy burdens of managing the country, and is constantly entangled in its ever changing crises of which it is not only innocent but in a constant war against. It is in constant battle against those forces that wish to enslave the middle class and that incessantly try to undermine its egalitarian policies. It must demonstrate to the people from time to time that it is one of them. That it fights against corrupt corporations and greedy banks and all manner of excessive profiteers.

The battle is exceedingly difficult, and it always seems that the devious money mongers seem to get ahead, even in spite of the benevolent ruling class's war against them. And because the middle classes, in spite of the ruling class's best efforts seem to fall further behind, it almost appears as if the ruling class is in bed with the evil ones, but that is a mirage which must be dispelled with more restrictive regulations (which those wily capitalist rascals always somehow seem to turn to their advantage), with occasional little compromises with "big business" mucky mucks (in order to trick them into donating lots of money--for their own, shall we say, bringing down to proper size), and with occasional visits to the lower echelons in shows of solidarity. So don't worry about what's behind the curtain, the great Oz of the ruling class is not in cahoots with the robber barons. It just seems like it. He is really fighting for you. It does, however, take a lot of psychic and physical energy, and drains the battery so to speak, so frequent rests in pleasant places are necessary to recover. But look, it's not that difficult, I too can enroll in my signature accomplishment for you. You and I are one.

Now back to Hawaii.
