Not sure about the water lox.

I've been doing mine in the spar 60 /40 mix.

I soak mine 2 to 3 hours, let drip dry and wipe down.

Thats my method and has worked for me.

I'm sure some of the other guys can be more helpful.

What did you turn??

I also use waterlox and let them soak for only 15 minutes. I let them drip and pat the eye sockets with paper towel to get rid of pooled liquid.

I let dry O/n and then lightly sand prior to coating with spray BIN.

Sealing:50/50 mix.Penetrol or boiled linseed oil/Naphtha.

Once again I can't stress this enough:SHELLAC IS MEANT FOR INDOOR USE ONLY!!!.BINS is pigmented shellac and is the worse primer you could possibly use to prime something that will spend the majority of its time in water.

Btw Waterlox is nothing but extremely overpriced tungoil.

waterlox drys much faster than tung oil... it is workable after an O/N dry... tung oil is very slow to dry

I seal with 60/40 B.L.O and mineral spirits. With AYC I just soak the blanks for about 2 minutes. I haven't had any trouble with this procedure on AYC, although my results with hardwoods like birch have not been so good.
