EELING WITH CIRCLE HOOKS OFF THE YAK

I have been experimenting with circles and eels off my hobie. a few questions if I am slow trolling the eel do I give the fish slack when it taps the eel or do I hold the rod at a 45 angle and wait for the fish to hook itself. and if I do give lack how long do I wait? or should I just put the rod in the holder and wait for the fish to hook itself. I could use either method as I use a hobie and can hold the rod in one hand and steer in the other. Also when casting from the yack do you give slack to the fish and then engage the reel and wait for the fish to hook itself or do you feel the tap and hold the rod up and wait for the fish to hook it self? Worry for the confused nature of the questions thanks charlie

setting the hook in a yak is tricky as you don't have a firm footing to give a good set. that's why i prefer circle hooks and usually just let the fish do all the work. by the time i get the rod out of the holder the hook is usually stuck in the corner of the mouth somewhere.

I LOVE it when MY WIFE lets me fish
