Question How Many Plugs Do You Make At A Time?

I know some of you have told me "don't make more than 5 or 6 at a time" but how many do you guys make at a time??? My first batch I made 22 (so I got a pretty good idea what you meant by "don't make more than 5 or 6 at a time") My second batch I got 15 and my 3rd batch I got going now (drying sealer) there are 12.....so I am getting my quantities down there. I can only envirotex 5 or 6 at a time anyway.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Guess it really depends on what you mean by "do at one time". You mean start to finish? Or all at one time? I'll often turn several blanks one night, a few the next, etc. or do up a whole bunch on a weekend. Once I get a bunch up, I'll seal them all one night, prime another, then paint a final night. Less clean up and wasting of materials that way. Like right now I have around 50 waiting to be primed. If I am just playing around with a new idea, I'll do up a few and try different weighing, hooks, etc. until I get the action down right. Once that is good, I'll paint a couple up and see what the fish thing. If they like, I'll do a bunch more. So, to answer your question, between 1 and 50

but about 4-6 different styles,,6-12 of each...oil , let hang, lead, prime, sand, coat of flat white, sand, color, wire, clear coat, while those are dryin, I'll go spin some more of the same unless something new hits my fancy...

BOAT fish do count.

Thanks to the terrible summer we've had here, I did my usual winter run this month. I have 70 plugs ready for primer as soon as it stops raining. Instead of freezing my a*$ off in the shed during the winter I think I like the summer, where I can actually do much of the work outside under a shade tree. Plus the sawdust is collected on a drop cloth and the area hosed down when I done. I'll even do all my painting out there too. I think that I would be hard pressed to do this many with my indoor shed setup, but outside its a breeze.

depends, sometimes i do like 6 and they come out ok. but then sometimes i do 3 and they come out exactly as i wanted. i work better in small batches. i spend extra time sanding, and doing the little stuff.

live to fish. fish to live. rod tips high.
