Pat Metheny

Probably my favorite musician nowadays. I say musician and not guitarist because he writes such multi layer compositions that are so soothing to listen too. A real worldly sound. A true genius.

I remember him Paul .. I was a fan in the 70's .. We thought of his style back then as fusion ,, jazz/rock.. I don't know what they call it now .. Here's one of his early ones .. became his signature . Dig the guitar ,bass harmonys .. takes a while to get going but you may recognize it .. Its been many years since the band days ,, havn't heard that name in a while .. we all dug him though ..

Song is .... Cross the Heartland ..

He hasn't slowed down any Ed . Still putting out awesome albums with his own band and collaborating with other talents. Been touring for over 30 years. Has collaborated with anyone from David Bowie, jimmy hall, Jaco, Chick Corea to Joni Mitchell, also taught at Berklee for a while too. I also got a couple of albums by his piano player Lyle Mays.good stuff.

I first saw him at Penn State in the late 70's. I thought his music was great and he was a master at playing the crowd. He did three encores! I also thought of him as fusion/jazz.

Have seen him two times since including once in Boston but not for many years and didn't realize he was still that active. I will have to pull out some of my albums and get back into him! Thanks for mentioning him.

I liked Bright Size Life a lot. I had picked that up from being a fan of Jaco's. Great album.
