light cod rods

I am interested in putting together a couple of light cod rods for fishing 4-8 oz jigs on 30# Powerbraid. One will be for my 11 year old, the other for me. I see a number of folks up in this area are using lighter tackle for cod while fishing 50' - 150' outside Boston Harbor and out to Stelwagen. I already have a couple of Senator 112s that I want to use. Any one use any of the Batson, Amtak of PacBay blanks for this? Mike, got anything that is on special that would fit the bill? Was thinking of 7" - 10" hypalon foregrip, Fuji heavy duty reel seat, cork tape butt, maybe with 3M safety tread overwrap, and PacPay butt cap. Fuji or Amtak hardloy guides and tip top.
Any recomendations as to which blank? Guide setup and/or choice? Any thoughts on how Amtak guides might stand up? I don't have any interest in putting together, or fishing those telephone poles that are used in 300' of water with 21 oz jigs. At that time of the year I will be off chasing Stripers/Albacor and Bonito. I am looking to put together a couple of outfits for fishing Cod during the spring when they are in shallow water in Mass/Cape Cod bays, and when the Stripers haven't arrived yet. Over the past 2 years I did OK with Cod using 1.5 oz Scampi jig heads with 5.75" Finesse fish either just outside Plymouth or Boston Harbors.

What length were you looking for.
6'6" american 20 or 30 Class Graphite composite, T66120 or 30 Blank or 7'Lamiglas BT857S blank
Go with the Fuji FPSH Seat.
Fuji BLRLG , BULG or BHNLG Guides
I would go with the BHNNT(size) for the tip
I would also use a gimble with a butt cap

I just did one of these on a shakespheare gutts butt ugly stick for my nephew.I live right in town if you want to look at one done.I only do this as a hobby. These blanks will take a tremendious beating and last a long time especially with a kid using.I dont remember if I used the GBU 845or the846 would have to measure tip.Ones an 8 and the other a 9.Also did one on some off beat maylasian blank I picked up at CMS a while ago that he had for like 2 for 25 bucks. This was more of a tubular glass blank he had used for small cod rods.It actually seemed like an OK blank but dont know how it would hold up.He didnt have any specs on them and I got a couple of different ones just to wrap.
