Control

There's this movie called Control I saw recently - it's about Ian Curtis who founded Joy Division which later became New Order. I highly recommend it.

Is this the trailer?

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Is this going to become the old pharts, new wave thread?? That would be fun! Seems like just yesterday I was listening to the Smiths, and XTC, and......well...you know.

No, I don't think so. Most of the Eurotrash of that era was just that; trash. The movie is far less dated than the music. How Curtis attempted handled his poorly prescribed and mismanaged epilepsy, his conflict and guilt over his marriage to his high school sweetheart (whom he outgrew very quickly) and being a young father, the pressures of fame, etc. Their music explored themes of isolation, depression, futility, love, mental illness. He was very well-read and his lyrics were brilliant - a start contrast to what we usually see these days.
